Gambit
"Style is everything...and you don't got none!"
Gambit's strongest point is range. If he and his opponent get into a brawl, it's usually Gambit that will come out on top because he can punish them while they're still trying to get to him. Switch your tactics often with Gambit to keep your opponents off balance.
Advantages
- Gambit's Fierce throw is extremely useful. Not only does it do a lot of damage, it sets up an OTG air combo perfectly if done to a corner. The opponent cannot roll from the throw so unless they manage to tech hit, they're in for some major damage!
- Gambit is the OTG King of this game. Not only can he follow up a kick with an OTG, he can follow up a knockdown with either a Royal Flush or a Cajun Strike. Basically, if you're not going for an air combo, use his C.Roundhouse to set them up for these awesome OTG's.
- The Cajun Explosion does incredible block damage. If you see your opponent on the verge of dying, just pull off this move and watch the meter chip away!
- This is just my opinion and you can ignore it, but I think that Gambit's normal jump really sucks. Sure he jumps pretty high but then again, he doesn't move very far forward. For jumping in, it's usually a better idea to use super jumps.
- Gambit rely's heavily on OTG's and if an opponent is really good at rolling, then Gambit is in big trouble. If they manage to roll behind a Royal Flush OTG, they'll have all the time in the world to decide what to do with Gambit.
- Any Class A Helper attacks will set up the Royal Flush beautifully. The problem with this combo is that he won't get the maximum amount of hits and damage from the Royal Flush.
- Remember that Gambit's launcher is very powerful and will knock the opponent way up high in the sky. Pause slightly before beginning your attack or you'll whiff most of them.
- When all else fails, throw! Gambit's throws are very powerful and they have good range. The best thing is that they can be followed up with an OTG air combo for some massive cheese damage.
- Gambit's launcher is awesome air defense. If they've got him backed into a corner, push block until they decide to jump in on him. Hit the launcher at the last possible second to send them sky high.
- Don't rely on his Trick Card as air defense. It's really not that great because it comes out so slowly. If you manage to tag em with it, they'll be extremely vulnerable to a launcher or whatever you wanna dish out at them.
Second Form - Against the second form, you've gotta use the basic strategy for fighting Onslaught. Jump up to his head and hit him with a J.Fierce. If you wanna take a chance, you can pull off either of his supers when the time is right.
- Don't try countering the Cajun Strikes cause he'll always beat you. Unless you're a character that has a Great Cyclone, Shinryuken or another move like it, it's best to stay blocking.
- Don't get cornered by Gambit. If you do, he'll throw and OTG to air combo. Master your tech hits to avoid this.
- Roll, roll, roll! If he ever knocks you down, get ready to roll. Master it to avoid all those painful OTG combos that he can pull off.
- If he pulls off a Royal Flush and you're blocking, don't push it. Chances are you'll get hit by the last few cards. Just wait it out and pull off a fast super to catch him while he's taunting.
