Dhalsim
"I must meditate on why you lost.....you are inferior!"

The long-limbed yoga master! I love this guy! One day while I was trying to do the code to get Shadow, I messed up and got Dhalsim instead! I moaned and groaned about it but I soon found myself undefeated that day! I think it's because noone really uses him so the guys had no idea what to expect! They soon learned that jumping towards Slim 'Sim is a very bad idea! He's a very good keep away fighter and a great air defender because of his Yoga Strike and Yoga Blast! Winning with him requires you to be very slippery and confusing while chipping away at your opponent's life bar in preparation for a devastating super! He's a great character to use since most people really don't know how to defend against a good Dhalsim player!

Move Commands

Yoga Drill +K
The three versions of this move are Dhalsim's best weapons when it comes to jumping in! He spins in the air while coming down and hits his opponent with his feet! Short moves almost horizontally, Forward has him moving at a 45 degree angle and Roundhouse has him moving almost totally vertical! You can chain all three of these into one attack and it's really confusing for opponents! They might be able to block the first hit but they'll never expect two more to come after it and they'll let down their guard!

Yoga Mummy +P
This is a variation on the Yoga Drill, but instead of attacking with his feet, he hits with his head! Not as useful as the drills in my opinion because it doesn't really combo. It goes farther across the screen than the Short Drill though so use it to cover distance! Other than that it's best avoided cause if he gets stuck in a corner, he'll be very vulnerable to air counters and supers for quite a period of time!

Yoga Fire +P
The only fireball in the game which is actually made of fire! It's a pretty slow projectile so you can follow it and attack while it hits, kinda like Guile/Charlie's Sonic Booms! It can be done in the air and multiple Yoga Fires can be shot out while super jumping! It does decent damage and will go all the way across the screen now! Watch out though because there is a start up delay!

Yoga Flame +P
Dhalsim shoots out a long blast of pure flame! It hits from 1-3 times depending on the strength of the punch button used! The Jab version combos after his Fierce punch! It takes off good damage and I've found that people usually stop blocking after the first hit, so they get beaten up by the rest! Mix this up with his Yoga Fires to keep those animals away! If they manage to jump over it and get in front of you though, be ready for a combo because the recovery time on this move is horrible!

Yoga Blast +K
This is the same as the Yoga Flame but at a 45 degree angle! It's good for tagging jumping opponents and juggles 1-3 times depending on the kick button used! Don't do this while your opponent is on the ground though cause they have loads of time to attack you if this misses!

Yoga Teleport or +3P or 3K
Dhalsim goes into a Yoga stance and disappears! Where he reappears is dependant on the type of command that you had done! The motion forward teleports him forward and the motion backwards teleports him backwards! The kicks teleports farther away from your opponent than the punches! use these to get Dhalsim to safety and to generally confuse your opponents! Be careful though because he is vulnerable as he appears and smart opponents will be able to take advantage of this!

Yoga Meditation +3K
Dhalsim now has a flying move! Woohoo! He gets into a Yoga stance and floats freely around the screen! Throw out a lot of yoga Fires while pummeling them with your long limbs! Watch out because while flying, he cannot block and he'll fall back to the ground once he gets hit! This move is pretty useless in my opinion and should only be used if your opponent is totally dominating on the ground and you wanna take the fight up in the air!

Supermove Commands

Yoga Inferno +2P(Level One)
Dhalsim takes in a breath and shoots out a huge flame! This move takes off good damage and it comes out quite fast as well! It can be done in the air and I believe that it combos! It also works on jump in attackers because of the fact that you can point it upwards! Wait until they try to kick you and immediately pull this move off! It will also OTG so knock them down, pull this off and then point it down! Be careful when using it cause it doesn't go across the entire screen and you can be countered by beam supers if you're not careful! It does decent damage and is good for chipping because it can't be pushed!

Yoga Strike +2K(Level One)
I love this move! It is Dhalsim's most valuable super in my opinion! He does a high somersault and if he touches his jumping opponent, he'll grab them by his legs, spin in the air and slam them down! It does immense damage! Over a third of your opponent's life bar will disappear instantly! This is perfect for countering opponents who like to jump in on you! Make sure you pull off this move before they start attacking because he can be knocked out of it! After a few of these, they learn to stay on the ground! His launcher will set this move up perfectly and it is no longer tech hittable like it was in XSF!

Team Attack

Yoga Fire MP+MK
This is an ok team attack because it's a projectile and it goes all the way across the screen, but it is sorta slow so both your teammates are slightly vulnerable for a period of time....try not to use it too often!

Team Counter

Yoga Flame HP+HK
This is an awesome counter! Not only does it have long range, it even juggles three times! Try not to counter multi-hitting moves with this cause it does have a little bit of a start up lag before it starts!

Team Super

Yoga Inferno HP+HK(Level Two)
This is a great team super! It reaches almost totally across the screen and I think that you can still aim it, giving a lot of vertical range as well! Your enemies will not be pushed away by it, so your partner's attack can get all of it's hits in as well! It's also great for chipping damage and it will complement just about anything else!

Weakness and Nemesis

Dhalsim's biggest drawbacks are his lack of real speed and comboability! I'm told that, yes, he is able to perform air combos and such but they are so friggin hard to do cause of the problem with his extending limbs! This is because unless you hold back on the joystick, Dhalsim will do the long version of his attacks! This totally messes up air combos so I'd stick to the ground if I were you! He also has no ground magic so the best you can do is a punch into a yoga fire!

There's not much that Dhalsim can do against Wolverine and Spiderman except for playing a lot of keep away while chipping at their life bar! Another thing that you can do is.....YOGA STRIKE! Yes this move is awesome for teaching them to stay on the ground! Losing a third of your life bar does that to people! Hehehe....

Dhalsim's real strength is playing keep away so make sure that they can't get close to you except for when you WANT them to be close! However, Dhalsim does have a major rival when it comes to keep away, and that's Cyclops! Cyke can out keep away Dhalsim and most of the time, you are the one who is forced to get near! Use the triple drill kick tactic to get up close safely because it's a hard trick to counter!

Finally, there is the little problem that he has with his teleport! After you hit him in the air, he usually teleports and it opens up all sorts of possibilities for your opponent to add extra hits to his combo! However, this is also a strength because he teleports before he can be air thrown! This saves him a lot of his life bar against characters like Ryu, Wolverine, Shuma and Chun-Li who love to stick in air throws as air combo finishers! I'm not sure but I think he teleports before Omega Red can coil him!

Combos!

Special Comments
Dhalsim's combos are....well they are practically nonexistant! On the ground, the best that he can do is a normal move, cancelled into a Yoga Flame! While super jumping, it's really difficult to pull off a combo cause sometimes his limbs stretch and it messes the whole thing up! Remember to hold back at all times if you're trying to do an air combo with Dhalsim! His jumping combos are very good though because he can chain all of his drill kicks together in one attack and people don't usually expect this and end up getting hit! His Yoga Inferno also works in the air but I'm not sure if it combos

Ground Magic: None
Air Magic: Stronger
Super Jump Magic: Zigzag
Air Launchers: S.Strong
AC Finishers: Roundhouse

Easy Combos
1) S.Fierce --> Short-Yoga Flame

2) C.Roundhouse --> Yoga Inferno(OTG)
In order for this to connect, press down to aim the inferno at them! Watch out if they roll though so don't get predictable!

3) S.Strong --> Yoga Strike

4) Yoga Blast the enemy out of the air --> Yoga Inferno

5) Strong Throw, S.Roundhouse
You have to be quick about hitting them with the Roundhouse after the throw! This is easier to do in the corner but it is not a nessecity

6) Jab Yoga Fire, J.Roundhouse when enemy jumps
The idea with this combo is to hit them while they're jumping and force them to land on the Yoga Fire!

Harder Combos
1) J.DN.Short, J.DN.Fierce --> Yoga Fire

2) J.DN.Short, J.DN.Forward, J.DN.Fierce \/ S.Strong --> Yoga Strike

3) Get enemy in corner J.DN.Short, J.Roundhouse \/ S.Strong /\ SJ.Jab, SJ.Short, SJ.Forward, SJ.DN.Roundhouse
Remember to press back on the joystick to make sure that he does the short versions of his attacks!

5) J.DN.Short, J.DN.Forward, J.DN.Fierce \/ C.Short --> Yoga Inferno

6) J.DN.Jab, J.DN.Forward, J.DN.Fierce \/ C.Forward --> Yoga Inferno

Theoretical Combos
1) Fierce throw into the corner, Yoga Inferno
This worked in XSF, I'm not sure if it applies here! Immediately after the throw, do the Yoga Inferno Motion and press down! This will aim your flame at the floor and hopefully catch your opponent!

2) In corner: Strong Throw, Yoga Strike

I'm not sure about this because of the throw! Almost all the throws in this game seem to be impossible to combo after!

3) In corner: J.DN.Short, J.Forward, J.Roundhouse \/ S.Strong /\ SJ.Short, SJ.Strong, SJ.Forward, SJ.Roundhouse(FS), SJ.Short, SJ.Forward, SJ.Roundhouse \/ /\ J.Short, J.Forward, J.Roundhouse \/ C.Short(OTG) --> Yoga Inferno
This combo seems impossible! However, someone did send it to me and it does look like it has a chance of working so try it out! The hard part is the three extra hits after the AC Finisher! You have to do the little delay trick that I explain in many of the other character's combo sections!
