Saturday, August 10, 2002 MVCS is hosting a Speaker/Lunch Event on Saturday, August 10 at 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at St. Athanasius Church, Mountain View. The topic will be: Bridging the Catholic Divide: Finding Common Ground Catholics are one family but disagree on issues of authority, sexuality, women, liturgy, etc. It seems endless. But we must remember that we all share membership in the Body of Christ. As we engage in dialogue, we can find common ground. How do we as a Church engage people from the left, right and center and still find common ground? We are honored to have Fr. Diarmuid Casey, C.C.Sp. as our speaker. Fr. Casey was born in Ireland in 1943 and ordained as a Holy Ghost Father in 1969. He worked as a missionary in Kenya for 15 years, spent 5 years as the Secretary to the Provincial Council in Ireland and has served as Pastor of St. Athanasius Church since 1994. A suggested donation of $5 will help defray lunch expenses. Please RSVP by August 5, 2002 to Yining Deng by phone: 650-906-3589 or email: [email protected] St Athanasius parish is located at 160 North Rengstorff Avenue, Mountain View, and this event will be held in the church Hall. |
