MIAMI VALLEY BIRD CLUB
Mission Statement

The goal of the Miami Valley Bird Club is the preservation and survival of all avian species. This will be accomplished by promoting the conservation of resources, educating the general public, supporting avian research, and emphasizing good breeding practices.

Together we will:

• Provide an organizational base for the advancement of aviculture in the Miami Valley.
• Bring Miami Valley aviculturists together for both educational and enjoyable social events.
• Support local, state, and national legislation that will responsibly deal with the care and treatment of birds both as pets and in their natural state.
• Assist club members in their individual avicultural efforts in any way possible.
• Join and support other local and national organizations that work to further advance aviculture.
• Work to raise the overall awareness of the general public in matters relating to avicultural needs and issues.
• Study the diseases of pet birds and disseminate information as to the best methods for their prevention or cure.
• Print a newsletter that will keep our members informed of our intentions and achievements.
• Operate this club in a business-like manner. 

The MVBC meets every month. In the months of February, April, June, August, October and December we hold a general Club Meeting followed immediately by a Business Meeting. Our meeting location is the Pavilion Activity Room at Bethany Lutheran Village. The meetings start at 2:00 P.M.

Each Club Meeting features a guest speaker. Following the presentation and answer session we adjourn to enjoy refreshments and fellowship. There is a club raffle each Club Meeting with the funds benefiting MVBC’s projects.

After enjoying the refreshments and the raffle the President calls the Business Meeting to order. MVBC encourages all club members and guest to stay for the Business Meeting. The officers are always eager to have input from the club members.

In January, March, May, July, September and November, we hold Business Meetings only. These Business Meetings are held at Frisch’s near the Dayton Mall. The meeting starts at 2:30 P.M. but many members arrive early and order lunch or a snack before the meeting begins. Business meetings are very informal and all club members and their guests are invited to attend.
