FAQ MVARC MAIL Reflector ([email protected])
Q: What is the MVARC mail reflector?
A: The MVARC mail reflector was established to give members the ability to send a message to all MVARC members having email capabilities without having to maintain there own group list. You just send a message addressed to [email protected] and it will automatically be distributed to all those members on the list.
You can still send messages to individual MVARC members using your own address book or by going to the MVARC members email page and selecting those addresses.
Q: Won't this increase my receiving unwanted email or "spam"?
A: No, the MVARC mail reflector has been set up with a closed membership and access. Only those members on the mail list can send messsages to the list.
Q: How can I subscribe or unsubscribe the MVARC reflector ?
A: The reflector is a standard Majordomo robot.
All commands are directed to [email protected] and all messages to reflector participants should be directed to [email protected]
To subscribe-
FROM THE ADDRESS YOU WISH TO SUBSCRIBE, send email to [email protected] with SUBJECT line empty
SUBSCRIBE MVARC in the body of the email.
To unsubscribe-
FROM THE SUBSCRIBED ADDRESS, send email to [email protected] with UNSUBSCRIBE MVARC in the body of the email.
The SUBJECT field is ignored and majordomo is case insensitive.
The major will try to parse all commands in the body of the email, hence, if you have a canned signature- follow the command line with a second line reading
END
to let the major know that he can ignore following lines.
Normally, it will be a matter of minutes before you receive an email response from the major.
Additional information may be gained by sending email to the major with the body of the message containing the text

Q: What else must I do after I have subscribed ?
A: MVARC has decised that the reflector shall be open only to MVARC members. What this means is that, if your email address does not encapsulate your call sign, you must send email to [email protected] to let him know what your callsign is.
Q: How can I review WHO is subscribed to the reflector ?
A: Send email to the major with message content reading WHO MVARC
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN EXCELLENT WAY TO DETERMINE IF YOU ARE SUBSCRIBED !
Q: The MVARC reflector unsubscribed me, what happened ?
A: Possibly your ISP was down or your mailbox filled up. This produces bounce messages to the administrator each time traffic goes over the reflector. After a while, the administrator may manually UNSUBSCRIBE the id. There is no way to notify you of this, as your email address is not receiving ! Just re-SUBSCRIBE.
Q: How can I find out other majordomo commands (like getting a digest or INDEX of postings) ?
A: Go to http://www.qth.net- or email majordomo with command HELP
Q: I subscribed but receive a 'not subscribed' error back when attempting to post. What's going on ?
A: Probably, your subscribed ID is different from your email server address (Or you have been dropped from the subscriber list). Try sending another SUBSCRIBE in from the erring ID.

Q: I'm overwhelmed by the number of MVARC messages showing up in my reader ! Any options ?
A: You can unsubscribe from the reflector and SUBSCRIBE MVARC-DIGEST. You will periodically receive a summary of reflector traffic. Naturally, if shopping for equipment, notice will be delayed.
As with the reflector, try to SUBSCRIBE/UNSUBSCRIBE from the ID you wish to use. Else SUBSCRIBE MVARC-DIGEST [email protected] where the later is the secondary adr you wish subscribed. You will receive email to the secondary adr requiring you authorize the subscription.
