Secadas are a locust that appears for a brief amount of time and lays their eggs and die .
Well, one of these years fell during my 3rd grade school year. Everyday we would go outside for recess and catch the locusts as we called them and throw them on the girls in class. That all ended suddenly one day.
A friend of mine came to school one day to tell of a boy our age who caught one and fell asleep with it in his hand. when his parents tried to wake him up they found the tell-tale egg trail up his arm and he was dead . Well to say the least we were all scared to death and before we knew it half the boys in ther state had been killed by the locust. It wasnt until a teacher discovered us running from one locust that we found out the truth . They werent harmful at all , but they had terrorized us all for a whole summer.
