According to legend the cat is a kind of supernatural avenger. It kills the evil doers it comes across . The story was often told to children to try to make them behave .( I myself spent a many fearful nights worring about the cat.)
It was said to be about the size of a mountain lion and covered in spikes like a porcupine with the fangs of a sabertooth .
It is said to inhabitit the woods throughout southern Ohio and northern Kentucky and West Virginia. Its sighting is said to be a bad omen.
