Wannabe Punks
One of the things that pisses me off the most, is when people think they are punk. They think that just because they shop at Hot Topic and listen to Good Charlotte and NOFX that they are different from everyone else and thus rebellious They say that everyone looks down on them because they are different and that no one really understands them and shit like that. Now in my opinion this is just retarded. By buying into societys definition of punk and rebellious you are just fitting into a stereotype and thus not being different. Another thing is that Good Charlotte and NOFX are NOT punk. Punk died in the 80s with The Clash/ The Ramones/ and The Sex Pistols. There is no PUNK anymore. Yes there is punk rock and punk pop/ but all the rebelliousness is gone from the genre. Instead of hearing bands scream about overthrowing a government we hear teenage loser boys whine about not having a girlfriend. This is not punk! Also, quoting my dad, You see all these people who think that they are different because they buy clothes at Hot Topic, but that doesnt change the fact that they are still buying their clothes AT THE MALL. I totally agree with this sentiment, by buying your clothes at the mall you are just agreeing with capitalism and thus not rebelling. I walk into school and see girls and guys wearing ripped black clothes with tons of patches on them and such and in my opinion instead of looking tough and different they just look retarded. People dont look down on punks because of their clothing or taste in music, they look down on punks because of the way they treat society. Has anyone else noticed that The people at Oakwood who say that people are being prejudice against them, are the same people who treat other people like shit? And another thing why are girls who want to be punk such whores? I have never met a wannabe punk girl who was not over every single guy in the room and that annoys me. I mean have a little respect for yourself. Just because you listen to that style of music does not make you a punk. I bet you I know more about real punk than any of these little Goths. I also probably know more about the punk rock and punk pop genre than them, and yet I dont call myself a punk, because I dont think punk exists anymore. And at the point where the majority of the population wants to be punk ( go to the mall and look at the clothes and you will find that most of it fits with the whole punk stereotype.) then it isnt even different anymore. So if everyone is dressing as a punk now, than the really rebellious would be the people who dress preppy or NORMAL. Now if you actually like those clothes than more power to you, wear them if you want, just dont say that you are different because you do. Guys, being punk does not make you any cooler, it does not make more girls want to date you. In fact if any girl likes a guy more because he listens to punk pop then she is obviously retarded, because who wants a wuss for a boyfriend. What probably makes the most upset is that they say that they know underground bands and that they know more about them than me. And then I ask for an example to which they promptly reply MxPx. Now, there is nothing wrong with MxPx, dont get me wrong, but dont tell me that they are underground, and dont tell me that you know underground bands if you think that thats what they sound like. I just hate it when people try to be so different that they are all the same, and then they look down on those of us who arent that stupid to classify ourselves in such a way. Maybe someday these idiots will realize that theyve been wrong their whole lives, and maybe then theyll get some real friends and some real taste in music. One can only hope.
