Rush is the formal membership intake process for 8 of the 9 MUW social clubs. (The Coretta Social Club is the only one that does not partcipate in rush.) Durring Rush Week, girls participating are introduced to the social club system and the individual clubs through a series of parties. Girls can find out what social clubs are all about and whether or not joining one of them is right for them.
Why should I join a Social Club?
Being a part of a social club is a once in a life time experience that will definately make your college years memorable. These clubs off their members opportunities for leadership, schollarship, service, and sisterhood. Joining a club is a great way to get involved on campus and to make countless friendships that will last much longer than your four years in college.
If I join a Social Club will I have time to study and to be involved in other campus organizations?
Girls who are considering going through rush always ask this question. Probobly because it is a very important one to ask! Being a member of a social club, or any other oranization for that matter, will require something very precious from you, your time! It's normal for you to be protective of your time, but while clubs do take some of your time, they will give you so much more back in return. They will give you opportunties for service and for fun. They will give you chances to become more involved on your campus and in your community. They will give you a network of girls who will help support you in your studies and in your life. They will give you a cirlce of firends with whom you can share joys, successes, failures, memories, and even clothes! Ask any social club member, and I'm sure she will tell you that the investment of time that she put into her club was well worth it!
Do I have to join a club to go through Rush?
Definately not! Although joining a social club is a wonderful experience, we do realize that it may not be for everyone. However, that doesn't mean that Rush can't be. Going through Rush is a great way to get to know people on campus! If you aren't sure whether or not you want to join a social club, going through Rush will be a great way to help you make up your mind. When you register for rush, you are not obligated to join a club.
