OBJECTIVE:
To establish in London a publicly accessible archive of the music, poetry and
songs of singer Sheikh Imam Issa and poet Ahmed Fuad Negm.
The evening will include
* presentations of previously
unavailable film and audio material;
* seminar presentations on the
Sheikh and his work;
* live performance of the Sheikh’s
songs.
PROGRAMME:
* A documentary presentation on “The Other Side
of Sheikh Imam”, by MOHAMMED ANTAR of the Cairo Group for Sufi Chanting and
Dhikr
* Video recording of SHEIKH IMAM performing
“A’iish ahl baladi”, with Arabic printed text, translation and commentary.
* Live performance of “Hallu al-marakib” [“They
untied the boats” – Najib Srour] by NAJIB COUTYA (‘ud), with printed text and
musical commentary.
* “Sheikh Imam – Symbol of Resistance” : Presentation of the Sheikh Imam Archive
