Welcome to the Marquette Volleyball Alumni Page. Being a member of the Marquette Volleyball Alumni has many advantages and can be both socially and physically rewarding. Yearly matches between the current collegiate squad provide for much needed excercise. Also being an alumni member provides the same opposite sex privlages as current team members have, with the added lure of having a job.

Alumni drop 2004 alumni match, 2-3.

The team an alumni organizers are currently in talks for the 2005 fall alumni event.

Eligibility Requirements: 1. Must have a bachelors from Marquette University. 2. Must have played on the Marquette University Mens Volleyball Team for at least one full season. 3. Must not be a wuss.

June, 2008 - Team CORE, made up of mostly Marquette Alumni, takes No. 2 in the nation at adult national tournament in Atlanta.
September, 2007 - Beef (Brian Rutkowski) will marry Crystal, a girlfriend of over two years.
June, 2007 - Cuong Truong and wife Lisa move back to Milwaukee.
June, 2007 - Brian Nash buys home in Wauwatosa with wife, Katie.
June, 2007 - Team Core dominates Austin, Texas, during adult nationals. Team memebers include Tall Tom, Nash, Sharkey, Eifler, Jardon, Steve Austin, and honorary Marquette alumns: Keith Brandstetter (Purdue), Jay Schmidt (Whitewater) and Chad Olson. The team took first place in partying, fifth in playing volleyball. Alumni Dave Vogel and Scott Pionek also made their way down for the festivities to relive 1998's NIRSA nationals.

Derek Adair 92-97 OP 6.2 200/235 One of the founding fathers of the men's club volleyball team. Helped lead Marquette to it�s first WVC championship in 1996 coming back from down 2-0 vs. UW-Oshkosh. He now coaches in Londonderry, N.H. He headed the high school boy's varsity team that was 11-3 in 2006 and are headed to the State Tournament. (www.nhiaa.org). Steve Austin 02-05 MH 6.9 210/? Came to MU with no volleyball experience. Leaves MU with national title. Known for dancing with women no taller than 4-foot 10. Likes heavy rap music and sitting with his knees in his throat on extremely long car rides. From the Lou and he's proud. Parents are also taller than trees. Broke his face his sophomore year. Took semester off to party before winning nationals. In Milwaukee area finishing school.

Marc Babyar 04-07 S 6.2 190/? Marc Babyar took the setting reigns from 6-year player Brian Sharkey, and never gave up his starting spot in his years playing. Babyar led the team to the national championship in 2005. He received the nickname Fats while on his first roadtrip his freshman year to Michigan State when he stopped three times (in one day) to eat at Wendy's. Current employment has something to do with Wilson's Leather.

John Bailey 98-02 BS/S 5.11 165/170 Bailey was the creator of the phrase "Do you guys play real volleyball here? I'm from California, so I know how to play volleyball." Solid career, mostly as the starting back row specialist. Most likely a carnivore since he eats meet from a never washed George Foreman Grill. Lucky enough to have lived in Renee Row 208. Once kicked a hole in the stair wall leading to the second floor in the apartment. Coach for Dominican H.S. Volleyball. Still in Milwaukee Area. Recent graduate of Marquete Law.

Beef 94-00 M 6.3 200/210 Smoker. Dates older women. Known for his long flowing Fabio-like hair. Mistaken for Jesus frequently. Nobody really knows his real name. Likes country line dancing. Claims to have founded "Where's the Beef" ad campaign for Wendy's. Civil Engineer. Came in drunk to give disappointing performance in 2001 alumni match. Claims to have been invited to Hot Tub party in Los Angeles where he was the only guy present. Currently working on the Marquette Interchange. Dating girl (Crystal) for over a year.

Mike Bonaguini 96-97 BB 5.10 85/83 He has -1% body fat. Hasn't been seen or heard from in years.

Josh Biros 02-05 MH 6.2 175/? Arrived at Marquette and started as a freshman. Known to See Ball - Hate ball - Hit Ball. Later chose to be an RA. Been confused for Jesus because of long blonde hair and his odd sense of humor. Broke Steve Coglianese's hand freshman year.

Tony Boras 94-98 OH/OPP 6.4 190/200 Known as the "Horse", there are many conflicting stories concerning its orgin. Part of the 226 six-some in Austin. Past jobs include porn-star (amateur), and accountant for Julius Joseph. Currently working as an accountant, recently promoted. Lived at Original VB Party House, Renee Row 226. Just bought a lavish 1 bedroom in the prestigious River North area (Chicago). Maintains chiseled physique by playing in 6 sport leagues per week. emailto: [email protected]

Kaleo Cabral 94-96 S 6.0 200/? Once colored his hair blue and gold with his number (1) shaved in it. Currently is a "Rainbow" warrior, living in Hawaii.

Mark Chang 97-99 BS 6.8 160/170 Team inspirational leader. Asks the tough questions, like "how often do you masturbate?". Lived at 208. Once threw rocks at some kids who were throwing cheetos at him. Member of "AP" cult. Likes his cars pimped out Korean style. Excellent singer, band making some Chicago area performances. Sang National Anthem at NIRSA Championships. Dave Chodorowski 94-98 M 6.6 200/240 Known as "Chowder," he recently resurfaced in Ohio where he lives with his wife and two children. Chowder was the first to give Beef his nickname and was there for Dave Vogel's first "Chicken" performance. Team Captain and President his Senior year in 98, he was the Blocking Champion, All Conference, and team MVP that same year. He moved back to Chicago for a few years after graduation and then to Steubenville, OH where he received his Masters degree. He was kind of crazy in his day between "bulkin" and taking a hundred different supplements. He has since quit bulkin and has turned his life around. Mike Christiansen 97-01 MH 6.3 190/? Started off career breaking and spraining team members ankles because his severe lack of cordination. Gradually became more and more coordinated which led to a solid 4 years at Marquette. Now living in Milwaukee to be closer to college sweetheart, working as a teacher in MPS. "TaTonka" was most used nickname. Recently married.

Steve Coglianese 98-02 OH 5.11 165/170 Great 4 year career. However, legacy may be tarnished by a glass beverage container throwing incident. Helped lead team to top 10 in Nationals 3 of 4 years playing. Quit his first job as sales guy. Now just working out. Possibly going back to school in Chicago area. Lived at Renee Row 208. Rob Eifler 96-00 OH 6.1 195/210 Creator of Brat Sale idea and the "send the rest of the team to work the grills at Great America" idea. Former nick names include "Essai" and "Terminator". Lived at Original VB Party House 226 Renee Row, then started tradition with Cuong over at 208 Renee Row. Solid 4 year career. Has new job working with fellow alumni Matt Schabes at United Learning in Evanston doing computer stuff. Just bought a new place in Chicago. Justin Harwig 00-04 OH 5.11 165/170 Harwig was all around great guy. Has dated same girl, Mary, all four years of college. Was given names for all his futre kids by Jon Bailey while at KC nationals. Names include: Hunter, Tyler, Turner. Still in Milwaukee area.

Erich Hinterstocker 94-96 OH 6.1 185/185 Perfect hair. Eats well. Still concernced with how in shape he is, in contrast to the rest of us. Parents own a turkey farm. Also known as "stroker". Chiropracter. Married womens club team former 2 time All-American Kristen. Lives in GB. Moved to North Dakota to serve as head coach for women's team. emailto: [email protected]

Dan Jardon 92-96 OH 5.10 185/185 10 years as part of team. Coached for 4 years. All around good guy. Just built a house in Milwaukee somewhere. Turned himself into excellent beach and grass player. Has extremely bad hair problems after sleeping. Also known as "Fat Wally". Some kind of engineer. Solid middle position performance at MSU Hardwood. Great drinker, short arms.

Dan Kovach 99-03 OH 6.1 170/175 Kovach has made his mark both on and off the floor. Witnessed and possibly contributed to the aforementioned Coglianese bottle-throwing incident. Always a source for Andrew A. Lewis jokes. Attempted to continue the Renee Row party tradition in 204, never achieved 208 status, but still some awesome parties. Usually at his best partying at a large volleyball gathering out of state. Aliases include Krotch, Krotchafucco, and Noggin. Up for most improved alumni reward - not just for volleyball performance. Andy Jasculca 97-98 OPP 5.11 175/? Started off strong his freshman year, then mysteriously vanished never to heard from since. Thought to be working undercover for fbi. Recent sightings at college bar claim disquise includes a bigger stomach.

Andrew A Lewis 99-03 M 5.11 175/? The Jamacian Sensation...nuff said.

Tom Liszka 02-06 OH 6.10 170/still tall Tall Tom entered Marquette as an uncoordinated middle with more size than he knew what to do with. Following his freshman year in which he helped lead the JV team to a state title, Tom was asked to work on his outside approach. The rest is history. Tom is known for his ability to quote any song since 1958 and attract screaming 13-year-old girls club teams with his height.

Brian Nash 99-03 DS 5.9 170/170 Nicknames have included Turtle, Nashers and Grandpa Nash. He is notorious for causing strife between the men's and women's club teams when choosing the team's setter before finally selecting one the team's outside hitter, with whom he is still with to this day. Hobbies include: Late night visits to Marquette Gyros for cheese fries, fracturing his hand playing pick-up basketball, quoting 'Old School' and using the words 'like' and 'honestly.'

Matt Oleksy 96-99 OH 6.0 170/170 Now a doctor of physical therapy in the field of orthopedics and sports med, Oleksy works for Sports Physical Therapy and Rehab. He is based out of Marengo, Island Lake, Fox Lake, Crystal Lake, and Gilberts, Ill. Claims to have started playing volleyball again in 2006. Lives in Woodstock.

Marty Petrica 98-02 OPP 5.11 165/170 Marty was all around great guy. The kind of guy that held up the famous Vesna-meter in a psuedo-stalking kind of way for then Varsity girls Volleyball babe Vesna G something. Stalked a few other girls along the way as well. Asthma problems during career led to sitting out of several running drills. Working at Major Golesbys in Milwaukee as a Manager currently.

Scott Pionek 97-01 OPP 5.11 165/180 This lefty was a solid all-around player. Numerous injuries slowed career early on. Never was on time for anything in his life. Holds record for messiest room ever at Marquette and longest showers.. One of the few lucky young men to live in Renee Row Apt. 208 over the years. Dave Riedl 96-00 M/OH/OPP 6.4 210/225 Big Dave still frequents the volleyball circuit, possibly rekidling memories of his vb glory years. Provided the historic Porno-Van for road trips. Also known as "Porn Star" for 70's style porn look he sports. Still believed to be living around the Milwaukee area, possibly at home but possibly in his own place. Back at Marquette in grad school.

Danny Romes 02-05 RSH/L 6.2 200/? Known for unorthodox style of hitting, passing, blocking, dancing, dressing - pretty much everything. Nicest guy you will ever meet. Lefty earned numerous 'Most Dedicated Player' awards. Quote: "We both have a lot in common. I mean we both like fresh food." Going to be a teacher.

Matt Schabes 93-97 OH 6.2 185/195 Recently married over the summer to make things official with the girl he once just referred to as an "aquaintance" who is also a former club player (Katy Bosch). Lives in Lakeview (Chicago). Works as IT director for United Learning. Knee is now severly f'd up, will not be playing vball anytime soon. Always cool. emailto: [email protected]

Brian Sharkey 97-03 S 6.2 200/? Started setting after Pete tore ACL and never relinquished job after that. One would often hear the memorable melody from "Jaws" at games when he was to serve. Loved to get used by outside hitters. Returned to play for 6th straight year, setting a MU record and making Marquette look like an affordable state school. Cuong Truong 96-01 OH 5.10 170/180 One of the early "AP" pioneers. First Player to live at 208. Once broke his shoulder trying a jump on a snowboard. Solid career which was highlighted by his eagerness to show off his nipple ring. Any other form of sexual expression was also a favorite of his while in public. Chuck Warner 02-05 and going RSH 6.3 190/? Most decorated player in team history. Former club president, led team to top finish in 2005. Will pull a Sharkey and make Marquette appear affordable by attempting to play for all six years of eligibility. Smart guy is going to be a physical therapist. Numerous awards - for partying and playing.

Josh Wilda 98-02 OH/OP 5.11 170 Runway and Fashion Catalog Model...Lived at 208...Member of selfnamed 4 horsemen group....Recenlty took job in Madison .

Dave Vogel 96-03 M 6.6 200/220 Team clown over the years, must be like 40 now. Has been an assistant coach now for 3 years. Broadway class "chicken" performer. Resuming studies in hopes of attaining degree in Engineering after a long run at Wisconsin Club, where he gave the whole team jobs. Currently working and living in Stevens Point. He should be mayor.

Brian Sharkey	97-03	S	6.2	200/?	Started setting after Pete tore ACL and never relinquished job after that. One would often hear the memorable melody from "Jaws" at games when he was to serve. Loved to get used by outside hitters. Returned to play for 6th straight year, setting a MU record and making Marquette look like an affordable state school.
