The
Band - Matt Small
Hey
I’m Matt! I was born in Newfoundland but I got the privilege of growing
up in Cold lake Alberta since we are a military family hahaha! I got my musical
training playing piano for 7 years and even though I really hated it, it gave
me the knowledge I needed to pick up the holiest of all instruments….the
bass guitar!! I’ve been playing in bands for about 3 years now, but
I finally found I serious one when I met Braydon, Julie and Spencer. We just
clicked and were able to put together some seriously bitchin' songs with very
little trouble. I think that music is the single most powerful form of self-expression
in the world and I love every minute that I am playing with my band. When
I’m on stage, there’s nothing else that matters. All of my problems
just seem to go away and there’s just the music and the crowd and all
of us going insane. It’s insane! I have a whole bunch of influences
that affect the way I play. There’s Incubus, Rage Against The Machine,
maybe even a little Tool… but the most important one…. RED HOT
CHILI PEPPERS BABY!!! They are the greatest! Flea is the best bass player
on the face of the earth!! Every time I listen to their music it inspires
me to pick up my bass and practice even harder so I can load our music with
insane slap bass mayhem. Anyway that's what I'm all about.
