What is in a name? For rose by any other name would still smell as sweet... william shakespeare said that, and i think it has some truth, but no offence to him or anything but i don't think i'd enjoy a rose as much if it was called a thistle or a belch! So names are important to me! Especially my witch name was important. My friend CD has been thinking of a name for 3 years... my friend Venus thought of one in 5 seconds... it all depends on the person... ur name can be anything u choose, i like to say its a name that puts u into perspective... I am a wild person i never like to be constrained or anything and when i thought of choosing my witching name i immediately thought of "Wild Spirit" However while it was easy to find the latin translation for Spirit, it was more difficult for the latin translation of "Wild". I always knew that my name had to latin i dun noe y it just seemed important. I settled for "Feles Spiritus" which means "Cat Spirit" Since i have a love for cats. However it just didn't feel right and eventually i stumbled across the latin translation for Wild and my name became Indomitus Spiritus which means "WIld Spirit". I don't advise people to change their names once they have chosen one... ur name is ur identitiy and i thinks its important to keep it to remind u of who u r. But i can't really say its really wrong because i did change my name. Ur name can be in any language... Cd has her name in French or spanish, Venus's name is Belisima Capriosa and i dunno wat that language is... sounds italian!!! Its really up 2 u and i don't think n e 1 should tell that there are any boundaries for the name u should have because the only boundaries are the ones u place on urself.
Originally a need for a witching name was put in places where it was dangerous to give out ur real name. There are black magick spells used to cures a person if u can noe their true name given to them at birth. That's why in history in some places people didn't even noe their own names, so that nobody could attack them like that. These days witch's have a special name for a sense of identity and spirituality. This name is special to them. If you want to do some research for your name (which i strongly suggest) then there are many good sites on the internet that can teach you about names. |
