ANGER RELEASE!
Bauan, Batangas
20 October 2001
We arrived at the venue around 7 pm. There were lots of people outside... I thought the gig has already started, but I was wrong. A band was setting up on the stage by that time. When they started to play, people started going inside. What caught my attention when I got in was the sound system. It sounded great. There was a table inside where DIY stuffs were sold. People from A.D.A. & Not For Sale were selling tapes, cds, zines and soaps. Well, on with the show....
The first band OUTLAST did a Hatebreed cover. They only played a few songs... After them was EIGHT OUNCE from Laguna. This brutal hardcore crew played a heavy and tight set. That's when hell broke loose cuz the kids started to mosh! ONE SWEET DAY from Batangas was next. Truth is, I'm not really into too much pop-punk/emo, but I liked this band. They were well received by the audience who sang along with them, especially with their cover of Fenix Tx's All My Fault. I first saw CATALEPSIS play at the Sta. Mesa gig and I anticipated seeing them play again that night. The crowd went wild again when these grindsters strutted their stuff. What can I say? This is my cup of tea and I'd recommend you to see this band when you get the chance. Great grind shit in your face! 'Nuff said. Crusty punx NOT FOR SALE played a chaotic set - loud, fast, and angry. (That's a compliment, by the way.) nofuckingmorals was next. By this time, the kids sat down. I thought that maybe they got tired from all that moshing and all those flying fists and kicks in the pit. NFM played mostly new stuff... They ended their set with a cover of G.I. + the Idiots' Damn You People. The crowd stood up and went wild! There was a break for a while. Ska band SPENGLERS were ready to play but had to wait for the busted bass amp to be replaced. The band played a lot of songs and this is when shit started to happen. A fist fight broke out. That wasn't the first that night, but that ended the show. A.D.A. (Aggressive Dog Attack) must've been pissed cuz they were up on stage, ready to play. Boi decided to just give away some copies of their tape, throwing them from the stage. Too bad the show had to end so abrupt and early. Oh well...
In my opinion, I think there was too much 'anger release' that night. It was a cold night yet people had hot heads. It disappointed a lot of people. A lot of people travelled far to get there and shit like that happened. Gig violence sucks! We ended up on a gasoline station later consuming alcohol...
X's: Thanks to Sheng, Gaddie, Mang & their friends for taking care of me that day...
