Overview
Well here it is, the release of the most effective protection system for Virtual Places! Bastion
was started by me, -JX- but I soon realized that if I wanted Bastion to be the best it can be I needed
expertise of a much better programmer than myself so I handed the project over to Dummy. Dummy has
done an outstanding job on Bastion. I can assure you that you wont find a better Filter/Floodgate out
ther now and for the foreseeable Future.
Data
This tab monitors data transfer between Bastion & the VP Server. In addition it also keeps
you informed of instructions blocked/logged. You may also select to minimize Bastion or view the
help file from here.
In/Out - Data coming into Bastion & data being sent from bastion.
Transfer - The small meter watches for data and according shows you the progress of it
being received. This is especially good for seeing how Bastion is responding to lag. Steps in
and out are the current procedures for Incoming/Outgoing events.
Status - Your current status of Bastion. Online/idle/Connecting.
Blocked - This section logs all lag attempts and several other things which are
all logged here.
Window - Choose to Minimize the Main Bastion window or view the help file.
Settings
Bastion comes complete with a fully functional Settings Feature. The settings you choose will be
saved to Windows Registry so that they will be functional next time you open Bastion.
Launch VP - With this setting checked Bastion will launch VP everytime its opened.
Start Listening - Checking this feature makes bastion automatically listen apon opening
of the program.
Log to Bastion.log - Checking this will keep all events from your current session logged
in the bastion.log file.
On Screen - This will log events on the Main Bastion screen.
Auto Check for updates- By having this option checked Bastion will automatically
search for new versions of bastion everytime you open the program.
Connection
This tab contains information about your current connection to Virtual Places and also provides you with
the methods of connection you wish to use.
Server - This default is 'talk.excite.com : 1533' and this will connect you normally through
127.0.0.1 . You may however wish to take advantage of logging Bastion in through a Floodgate. if you wish to
log Bastion in through a floodgate change this line to the IP address of the person you are connecting to along
with the port number they are listening on. (I.E) 24.132.78.230 : 1574 .
Relog In - Click this button to close the current connection to VP and reconnect.
Events
This tab contains all the logged information so you can see whats currently going on in VP/bastion.
The Events tab also has some additional features for you to choose from.
Events List - This section is where all information is recorded in list format.
Events - This is the Events view. Clicking once will change to this view.
IMs - This is the IMs view, click once will change to this view.
Responses - Clicking this once will open the Responses options. After the new section opens
you can choose how bastion should respond to certain events which may occur in VP.
Change Group Names - Here you can change the name of Hooks/Games/Tours.
More Info Response - Select one of the options which signifies the way you want
Bastion to respond to More Info Requests.
Filters
This tab contains all the options to configure the filter options of Bastion. Manage what you want
Bastion to block here. All options are optional and you can choose which to have in effect and which
you want to turn off.
Flood Attacks - Bandwidth attempts which normally would flood your Client stopping you
from being able to chat ( lag ).
Corruptions - Events which would normally corrupt your client either causing your client to freeze
or illegal op.
Bombs - Attacks which are very fast and are repeated in an attempt to 'kill' you.
Misc Blocks - Extra Blocks which don't fit into any of the above catagories.
Annoyances - Events which quite simply annoy the hell out of you!
Floodgate
Ah! well now, the Floodgate section of bastion. Forget Citadel, bastion comes complete with a Built
in Floodgate you can use to help out your not so lucky friends with bandwidth problems. Featuring the
newest most powerful blocking/Splitting method currently known, why settle for 2nd best when bastion provides you
with it all!
Connections - This gives you a complete list of all users connected to you.
IP Ban/Disconnect - Highlight a user in the list and click either of this buttons to
perform the appropriate feature.
Connection - Lists your current IP and port for listening on.
Bans - Here you can manage people you want to ban from being able to connect to your
Bastion. Includes both IP/Accounts banning options.
Tools - Extra options for you to send Broadcasts to all users connected to you.
Configuration - Config options that you can set to your personal preference.
Toys
The name says it all really, lol. A bunch of pretty neat toys for you to play around with.
Join Any Game - This function allows you to join any game. Simply click the
checkbox on, and Start a Megahead that you have installed on your computer. the blue
textbox below will now contain that megahead's code. Now, whenever someone starts a
megahead it uses that code, allowing you to enter their game even if you dont have that
megahead!
Update
This tab contains the information About the creation of Bastion and update features, recent updates
ect. You can use this section to check for recent updates to bastion and download the most recent copy
of Bastion directly to your PC!
