AppForge OS?

What can this be? A new operating system for the BE300? Well, almost. I was running an image search on Google.com and accidently ran across this image. Upon further investigation, I was able to find out that this was posted by a company called "App Forge". I placed a phonecall to App Forge and spoke with "Sonny", a tech rep. He informed me that they build framworks for handheld devices. These frameworks are called "runtimes". These runtimes are built unit specific, meaning that it has to be made for each device. These runtimes are used to run any software created with the "App Forge booster". There was some experimentation done with the BE300 as a potential candidate for runtime framework usage. Unfortunately there were not enough corporations interested in development for the BE300, so the project was scrubbed in late 2001. Another lost opportunity for the BE300.

There is a new contender in the mix of BE300 user invironments. "giuliastro", a member of several BE forums has put together a team in search of a better user invironment. The claim:"Bee is an environment/shell for your Casio Be-300 that we decided to share after a long time studing, tweaking and programming on our PDA." There is more that needs to be done, but  "BEE" is well on its way in becoming a viable user interface. The creaters are careful not to lable this an OS (operating system), but a user interface.

I will be following this story carefully in the next few weeks and keep everyone posted on the latest developments.
