John Allerdyce

John Allerdyce is hot. Literally. Not just in looks (but you can see why he has hoards of girls chasing after him! I would be, too, if he wasn't, you know, evil, and I had no integrity.), but also in power. While Bobby's power is ice, John's power is fire. Pyrokinesis being the technical term. This means he can mentally control fire. Note: He cannot create it, only manipulate it (unlike me, who carries it with me where ever I go!). This means he carries a lighter with him where ever he goes. It's really quite unhealthy the way he is attached to it. This flame is the source of his powers - it creates the flame which he then manipulates. When he uses his powers, he is amazingly powerful, and it is astounding the way he can transform one tiny little flame from his lighter into a blast powerful enough to destroy several police cars (more on that later).

And for those of you wondering why he is under the 'Not-So-Locals' title, I'll explain that, too.

John was one of the three students who escaped the mansion (Bobby and Rogue being the other two) with Logan. Now, they all went to Bobby's house, where, John, well, caused a bit of a stir. Not only did he not help with Bobby telling his parents that he was a mutant (by annoying Mrs Drake, and telling Mr Drake that it was actually his fault that Bobby was a mutant), but when he was cornered, he. . . got angry. Stating that he was the worst of all the bad mutants that everyone has been hearing about on the news (thank you, media orientated culture!), he proceeded to show everyone why he was the worst.
John pulled out his trusty lighter, summoned a flame. . . and blew up a police car. Yep, a police car. Not the Drake's car, not Cyclops' car (which Logan and the others decided to 'borrow' that night), but a police car. And he didn't stop at one. Oh, no. He blew up a couple, taking a few innocent cops with them while John was at it. Nice going, John. Nice of you to prove that we are all evil and dangerous.

But on the upside (but can you really see an upside because of that?) the commotion allowed Storm, Jean, and the newest addition to the team, the Incredible Nightcrawler, to land the jet, and pick up the four wayward mutants. But on the downside (yep, there's always a downside, especially when you are a mutant) it gave Magneto an opportunity to find the X-Men, and their company (this was after an amazing show of power by Jean, and Rogue falling out of the back of a plane, to be rescued by Nightcrawler). But Magneto seemed to recognize John's potential as a Brotherhood member, and spoke to him about his greatness. He told John that he was a 'god among insects', which John could identify with. The only good thing out of that conversation was that somebody finally said something about Magneto's helmet!

But that was just the final straw that broke the camel's back - or, you could say, the spark that lit the fuse. You see, John's talk with Magneto seemed to change his viewpoint, so that it contradicted that of Professor Xavier's and the other X-Men . They became more like those of the Brotherhood's where mutants are seen to be above humans because of their powers. While both sides - temporarily united against a common foe - worked together, John insisted that he, Rogue and Bobby join the fight - they had been ordered to remain in the jet (when will these adults ever learn?). So John trudged off to do his own thing, leaving Bobby and Rogue behind. Of course, he was kinda hindered by Professor Xavier's mental attack on all mutants, but hey, who wasn't? But that didn't stop him, because when it came time for Magneto and Mystique to leave the base at Alkali Lake, John went with them.

That's why John doesn't live at the school, and is one of the Not-So-Locals. He'd just better not show his traitorous face around school any time soon, for his own safety. . .
