Kitty
Katherine Pryde
You might have heard of our friend Kitty. She's the one people are always talking about when it comes to the whole mutant problem. Senator Kelly in particular likes to use her as an example. Still don't get it? Have you ever heard about the girl from Illinois who can walk through walls? Well, that's our Kitty! Her mutant ability is that of corporeal intangibility - I can hear you going 'huh?' right now. In layman's terms, she can walk through solid objects. Kitty is one of the lucky ones here at Mutant High. Yes, she has been exposed, but that does not bother her. Her parents still love her, and she loves them. They allow her to study at the school, and develop her abilities. In addition to her mutant abilities, Kitty is also quite adept at using computers and other forms of technology. This skill may prove to be to Kitty's and the X-Men's advantage. Although Kitty is young, she has skills beyond her years, both in mutant powers, and in other skills. Unlike a lot of young mutants, Kitty has excellent control over her powers, as well as over herself. Most mutants, especially teenage ones, struggle over how to use his or her powers (myself included). But not Kitty. The always friendly and happy teenager is a living version of what Professor Xavier wishes to achieve. |

But like all of us, Kitty had to contend with the invasion of the school, the place we call home. Kitty awoke to find a soldier standing in her doorway, and, taking a deep breath, she phased through her bed, through the floor, and down into the level below. But she was not safe yet. She looked up to find herself caught in a soldier's spotlight, and dead in his sights. Luckily, Kitty was able to run, phasing through everything in her path (including a very confused soldier) to escape the soldier, and the tranquilizer darts he was shooting at her. Yes, Kitty Pryde is a very lucky mutant, in control of her powers and herself, and who shows great promise. For all we know, in a few years, she could be an X-Man. |
