Designing of a WAN for the Pakistan Meteorological System

 

Goal

To connect all the main weather stations through a WAN link and maintenance of a Central Data base.

 

Description

We chose Multan as the point of central data base, just because of the geographical location of the city. There we have a Radio Station and a TV station. Our Data base was monitored by the radio station and TV station. All the other weather stations send there collected data through our WAN link to the central data base. On some stations sensors were directly connected to the computers.

Our WAN link was based on Flow-Based Weighted Fair Queueing. We considered the following major points during the designing of WAN.
