This 92 GT is highly modified.  Click HERE for the full list of the modifications.  I picked it up from Paul when he bought his 93 Cobra.  It was lowered and had the 93 Cobra back skirt and exhaust setup on it as well as sub-frame connectors.  As you can see, the paint was very well maintained.  It's a fun car!!!

Details, Details.  The front calipers and back drums were painted with red engine paint to match the color of the car.  A nice touch.  They just need to be cleaned every once in a while.  Clearn them with mineral spirits, then mask off and sand them before painting.  Wait a day for them to dry.

 Comments

This is my Critic's Corner.  I comment about the likes and dis-likes of this production year of Mustang and any mods I added.

Likes  :

    The 92 Production Year Mustang:
        * Great exterior styling
        * Good feel to the seating in the car and seat height with OK headroom.
        * Simple to work on (once you start to become familiar with fuel injection) with reasonable engine repairing room,
        * Very modifiable (includes body, suspension, engine, trans)
        * Like the switches to the headlights and accessories
        * Like the GT rear deck spoiler.  (Like the Cobra better).

    X-Pipe
        * Love the sound!!!

    Flowmaster 2 chamber mufflers
        * Love the sound out of these, but I do on occasion you do notice that 2000 RPM "hum of death" on long trips.

    Steeda TriAxe Shifter
        * Love this shifter!!!   This thing has the perfect angle and adjustments to it.  You can drive all day in a comfortable position and still have a short shift.

Dis-likes :

.    The 92 Production Year Mustang:
        * Should have offered a 351 as a "Performance Option" with 3.55 or 3.73 performance axle ("No replacement for displacement").  Chevy has been
offering the 350ci for who knows how many years.
        * Needed more BHP from the factory.  Should have included better head, cam, and intake design from factory like the Cobra.
        * The power disc brakes on this Fox body SUCK!!!  I am still amazed that for put drum brakes on the rear axle for this year of a car.  Especially on
GT model.  For the technology available this was way too much of a bean counter decision for Ford to make in a performance car.
        * Steering ratio stinks.  Can't make any kind of a U-turn.
        * Wheel wells were also too small to put any real sized tire without some type of wheel rub.
        * Side mirrors while they have nice style, they are not big enough
        * The headlight plastic does not last the test of time (fogs).
        * Steering wheel is too big and bulky.
        * Stock stereo is a peice of junk.
        * Clutch and brake pedals are too close. (Anyone with big feet or wearing boots has a hell of a time).
        * 8.8" rearend gear setup reminds me of early Chevy design.  Should have continued with the 9" or at least the design.  The install of the pumpkin makes
for a cheap and easy gear swap.  Also more durable.
        * Thermostat bolts are in a stupid place.  What happened to the easy replace design here.  What a pain.
        * Horn is hard to find and hit.
        * Power lumbar famous for not holding air after a few years making the seat uncomfortable.

    Equal length headers:
        * Installing these is a HUGE project for a home mechanic.  This was a pain in my rear for the almost unproven 1-3 extra HP.  As an install note, you
almost cannot get around jacking up the passenger side engine to install that side.  I spent hours trying to avoid that until I finally gave in.

    X-Pipe with American Thunder exhaust:
        * This install did not match up like I wanted and required customization by a muffler shop.  I do not know why.  Normally this stuff is "Bolt in".

    Underdrive Pulleys:
        * While this is truly a good "feel at the pedal" modification, I could never get the cooling under control in the summertime.  This car will get too hot at idle in 100 degree heat with the A/C becuase od these underdrive under drive.  I even added a 160 degree thermostat, 4 core radiator, Redline Water Wetter and top of the line coolant.  Don't let anyone else convince you otherwise.  Also you will miss the true cooling  power of your A/C once they are on.  Great mod in "cold" states.

    Split Fire spark plugs:
        * Don' really know if these are worth the hefty price.

    Lowering the car
        * This car has chopped factory springs.  While it feels fantastic while out for a performance drive, it can hurt a bit on the day to day drives.  Use after
market springs for a better ride.  Also you will need caster/camber plates when lowering to get alignment in to specs.
