Politics as usual???
Maybe it is just me, but if I am correct, if we were to remove the politicians from politics, don't you think we would get much more accomplished in the government? Think about it, what was the real issues with the primaries that the candidates used as platforms? Mud slinging...it came down to who had more money to sling more mud at their opponent. Why can't they put that aside and just deal with genuine issues and work to better society, not fatten their pockets? Is pointing out that someone had an affair really an important detail that we need to know about when we are trying to decide who is going to be the next leader of the free world?
We didn't care the Franklin D. Roosevelt was as guilty if not more so then Bill Clinton of having extra-marital affairs, why should we care about the new line of president's sexual lives? It doesn't concern us! FDR died with his mistress in Georgia while his wife was elsewhere. When she was notified of his death, all she wanted to know was whether 'she' was with him. Did that make him any less of a good leader? No, he was one of the most prolific and influential leaders of world history. What about JFK? Rumors fly about him and Marilyn Monroe, his use of the secret tunnels under the White House and many other deeds, did that make him any worse off a leader?
If you think about it, if we look at the agenda that congress has in front of it each year, for items to accomplish, bills to review, pass and create, how much actually gets done? Why can't they get the programs created and approved that we need as a society, how come we can't address health care as a national concern that is increasing becoming a crisis of extreme magnitude? Why do we have to have laws that are contradictory, or unresolved crisis, yet they can find the time to create pay raises for themselves year after year after year for doing something that should be a job done out of patriotism? They find ways to make sure that crimes they commit are immune from legal action, yet pass laws to correct the ills of society?
Is our society so entrenched in apathy that we allow these people to fleece us of our heritage and birthrights? Our freedoms, our national treasures, and our free wills? What do we do about it? Do we actively seek change in congress or politicians in general? No, we sit back and allow them to do as they wish. Newspapers and tv news journals try to rally up the mass and let them know of these events, but no one seems to care anymore. We are a society based on the need to rebel. We rebel against our parents for doing things that are supposed to teach us how to survive in the real world, but we don't rebel against politicians that take our money, tie up our hands and dilute our rights. We fight for independence from our family but flow into the main stream of apathy in society. We accept what we are told by our elected officials, but we all know they are natural liars. It is their jobs to lie to us, and we allow it.
Who is sicker, them for lying so much, or us for allowing ourselves to be lied to?
