I rebuilt this engine the winter of 2007. I assembled it myself and A&J Machine in Sturgis Michigan machine honed it, hot tanked it, installed new cam bearings and resleaved the number 4 cylinder. They also did all the machine and assy work on the Classic Inlines aluminum head.

The engine is a 1978 200 out of a Granada. Its "0" decked, bored .060 over, has flattop pistons from a 2.3 litre HSC motor and is fully balanced. The compression ratio comes out between 10.5-11.0:1 compression depending on the calculator used.

Horsepower is calculated between 185-190 at the rear wheels. Below is some of the specifics of the engine build,

ARP rod bolts & head studs.
Sealed Power pistons.
Classic Inlines deep sump oil pan.
Classic Inlines double roller timing set.
Classic Inlines balancer.
Clay Smith 274 duration 280 lift cam.
Clay Smith lifters.
Classic Inlines Aluminum head.
RAS 1.6 ratio roller rockers.
Classic Inlines hardened pushrods.
Classic Inlines 4 Bbl intake.
Holley 600 cfm vacuum secondary 4 Bbl.
DUI distributor.
Accel 10 mm plug wires.
Classic Inlines aluminum valve cover.
Pacemaker headers.
K&N X-Stream air filter.
Electric fan.

As of 8/29/08 the engine is running GREAT with 180 PSI of compression (cold tested) in each cylinder.

I'm running a FL-1A Motorcraft filter and 10W40 Valvoline oil in it right now. It has around 2000 miles on the engine so the next oil change I'm going to switch to synthetic oil.

The engine idles at 900-1000 rpms in neutral and it makes the best power if I shift it between 6100 and 6200 rpm's.

On the side are some pictures I took while assembling the engine.....ENJOY!!
Classic Inline goodies!!
Too much advance, too much compression and not enough octane equals broken parts!
