HISTORY

Alban is an unforgiving land that exist in an uneasy balance between hope and fear. Rival regimes fight in a never ending struggle for dominance over the two major cities in the region, San t'ori and Bastille. Within the cities, these regimes enforce social, economic, and political control by brutal force. However, inhabitants of the Alban highlands enjoy a relative level of autonomous independence - a feature that has made Alba a favorite among smugglers and privateers.

Strategically located at the busy crossroads of international shipping routes Alban possesses great economic and political potential. Despite its strategic geographic location, the Alban economy is typical of a neglected third world country. Many experts have claimed crime to be the national industry. Besides the agrarian economy of the highlands, the Alban economy is driven by smuggling and piracy. The governing regimes exercise more control over the black market than legitimate enterprise. As a result, famine and epidemic are frequent and most of the population is well below the international poverty line.

A historical crossroads of outcasts and criminals, Alban has a diverse and unconventional history.

GOVERNMENTS
