| WWE Smackdown Results - 10/30/03 - Lesnar/Big Show vs APA | |||||||||
| Smackdown! opened up with footage of Vince McMahon introducing the new General Manager of Smackdown!. As the new General Manager, Paul Heyman stated that things are going to change around here and last week, he made a main event match with the Undertaker against Brock Lesnar and The Big Show. If the Undertaker won the match, which he did, despite the odds being stacked against him, Paul Heyman stated that the Undertaker will have the right to name any single match that he wanted. After winning the match, the Undertaker announced that he would be wrestling in a Buried Alive Match at the Survivor Series but it's not against WWE Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar... instead, the Phenom wishes to face the owner of World Wrestling Entertainment, Vincent Kennedy McMahon and it'll be a Buried Alive Match! Kurt Angle's music hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring for a tag team match with Chris Benoit against John Cena and A-Train in a rematch from last week's edition of Smackdown!. Survivor Series Announcement: At the Survivor Series, it's going to be Team Angle vs. Team Lesnar. Angle and Lesnar will both choose four partners for their big Survivor Series Elimination Match! On his way to the ring, John Cena worked the microphone, taking shots at both Benoit and Angle. Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit vs. John Cena & A-Train Chris Benoit started the match off in the ring against John Cena and the two locked it up and Cena powered Benoit into the corner and then Benoit countered it until Cena powered out of the corner. Benoit then put Cena in a side headlock and Cena whipped Benoit off the ropes and Chris Benoit came back with a thunderous shoulder block to knock John Cena down to the mat. Kurt Angle put the ankle lock on John Cena but A-Train immediately got in the ring and he attempted to break the ankle lock but Angle saw him and nailed him with a number of right hands into the corner. Chris Benoit gave A-Train a German suplex and then he headed to the top rope and went for the flying headbutt but A-Train was able to roll out of the way to send Benoit crashing down to the mat. Kurt Angle gave A-Train the Angle Slam and then John Cena grabbed Kurt Angle and gave him a release FU. Cena went for the FU on Benoit but Benoit got out of it and chopped Cena into the corner. Chris Benoit hooked A-Train in a German suplex and then gave him a series of suplexes and then came off the top rope with the flying headbutt to pin A-Train for the three count to pick up the win! Winners: Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle Angle and Benoit displayed respect for each other by shaking hands after the match. After Benoit and Angle left, Cena and A-Train remained in the ring and the two argued over why they lost the match. A-Train shoved Cena back and then Cena kicked A-Train in the nuts with a low blow and then he lifted A-Train over his head and gave him the FU to leave him laying. Backstage: Vince McMahon was shown pacing in the backstage area and he was fuming over the announcement made by the Undertaker last week. Paul Heyman was also in the room and he witnessed Vince McMahon go crazy. Vince asked Heyman if he realizes what he did to him? He put him, Vincent Kennedy McMahon in a match at Survivor Series with the Undertaker. A buried alive match! Vince asked Heyman how could he do this to him? Heyman just stared at Vince and Vince said of all the idiotic things Heyman's come up with, all of those extreme concepts. Heyman attempted to tell Vince to calm down but Vince refused. Vince said that there's not going to be a buried alive match because there's not going to be an Undertaker. Because the plan is tonight, the Undertaker walks into an arena for the very last time because when he comes here tonight, Vince promises, no, he guarantees the Undertaker will be carried out. Paul Heyman said that's not going to happen tonight. You see, based on the impact the Undertaker had last week and what he could do tonight, Paul gave the Undertaker the night off. And he didn't just give him tonight off, he gave him off until the Survivor Series. Vince started screaming and whining like a madman and he said this is what's going to happen; terrorists are going to burn down the Undertaker's house. His children are going to be kidnapped, his wife, she's going to be raped by a motorcycle gang right in front of the Undertaker. That's what's going to happen and Paul is going to do it in fifteen minutes. And if he doesn't, Vince is going to wrap his hands around his throat and drag him out in front of the people, dig into his flesh and choke the life out of him! Vince angrily left the room as Heyman had no idea. Backstage: Torrie Wilson was shown getting out of the shower and tonight, she meets Dawn Marie in a Trick or Treat Costume Contest! Torrie went through her costume to prepare for tonight. Backstage: Chris Benoit was shown pacing back and forth in the backstage area and Kurt Angle caught up with him. Angle said that he knows they haven't always seen eye to eye but when they do, it's pretty obvious, they're unstoppable; you can't deny that. Angle asked Chris Benoit to be the first member of his team at Survivor Series. Benoit said of all the people Angle could pick for his team, he wants Benoit? Benoit said that you know damn well on any given night, they'll rip each other's heads off. Angle said that's a chance he's willing to take. He knows Chris is the most sadistic, tough, ruthless wrestler to ever step foot in that ring. Angle once again asked Benoit to be his first member and Benoit said "consider me in." Angle told Benoit that's what he wants to hear and Benoit said "consider me in, but don't make any mistakes, I am not your friend." Angle told Benoit that he doesn't want a friend, he wants a win. Backstage: Paul Heyman was shown in front of Vince's office and he entered the room and Vince asked Paul what he has for him? Paul told Vince nothing. Vince stood up with an evil grin on his face and responded; "nothing?" Vince said being the man of his word, which he is, then in a few seconds from now, he's going to put his hands on Paul Heyman, he's going to drag him out to the ring and he will enjoy choking the life right out of him. And then after Heyman is dead, then he's going to fire him. Vince took his jacket off and Paul thanked him, saying he wants to be fired. This is what Vince is induced to? Smacking around Paul Heyman, one legged Zach Gowen and his own daughter Stephanie? That's what's become of Vince McMahon? Paul begged Vince to fire him because he doesn't want to work for this Vince McMahon. He wants to work for the Vince McMahon that ran every other owner out of business, not this Vince McMahon. He wanted to work for the Vince McMahon who threw his guts and brains out and took on Ted Turner and Time Warner and ran their wrestling company into the ground. That's the Vince McMahon Heyman wanted to work for, not this Vince McMahon. He wanted to work for the Vince McMahon that stared a federal indictment straight in the face. When they threatened him with 30 years in prison, he wouldn't take a plea bargain, he wouldn't even negotiate because he believed in himself. That's the Vince McMahon Heyman wanted to work for. Where's that Vince McMahon? Paul said that the Undertaker can bury Vince alive at Survivor Series and right now, that'll probably happen unless Vince gets out of this jam. What happened to the Vince McMahon who's at his best when he's boxed in? What happened to the Vince that when you try to bury him alive, they always find out the hard way that they've got no chance in hell. Vince listened to everything Heyman had to say and then he walked off. Rey Mysterio vs. Ultimo Dragon Tajiri made his way out to the ringside area with his friends and he is the WWE Cruiserweight Champion and he's out here scouting his future opponents. Rey Mysterio then made his way out to the ring for a one on one match against the Ultimo Dragon. Dragon and Mysterio locked it up in the center of the ring and Dragon put Rey in a side headlock into a wrist lock and back into the headlock. Rey Mysterio flipped out of it but Ultimo kicked Rey in the gut to slow him down. Rey Mysterio went for the 619 but Ultimo gave Rey a back body drop to the ring apron. Rey hopped onto the ropes and went for a springboard but Ultimo kicked Mysterio in the gut. Ultimo went for his reverse DDT but Rey shoved him into the referee and after the referee went down, Tajiri hopped to the ring apron and kicked Rey Mysterio in the back of the head, allowing Ultimo Dragon to pin Mysterio for the three count. Winner: Ultimo Dragon Tajiri and his friends got in the ring and Tajiri bowed to Ultimo Dragon and Ultimo left the ring, not wanting any part of Tajiri and his two buddies. Backstage: The Big Show and Brock Lesnar were shown and Brock was telling The Big Show to be at the top of his game against the Undertaker. Brock and The Big Show argued as Brock blamed Big Show for their loss last week. As they were arguing, a backstage worker showed up and informed Brock Lesnar that Paul Heyman would like to see him in the ring. Brock went on his way and Big Show said "well that can't be good." In ring promo: Paul Heyman made his way out to the ring along with Nathan Jones and another guy. Paul took the mic and said that time is money and money is time and he isn't going to waste either one of them tonight. Not on Paul Heyman's Smackdown!. So first, ladies and gentlemen, those of you watching, let him introduce us to Nathan Jones. The single most notorious inmate in the history of the Australian prison system. A man feared on several continents and perhaps most importantly, a man who was given lame ass advice by someone who will be buried alive at Survivor Series, the Undertaker. Paul also demands that you feast your eyes on this man; Matt Morgan, the number one draft pick for Paul Heyman's Smackdown! so Stone Cold Steve Austin and Eric Bischoff, Paul scooped them both. 6 foot 10, 320 pounds and just like Brock Lesnar was the Next Big Thing, Matt Morgan will assert his dominance on every single athlete that falls before his greatness. Now let's get down to business. Paul has waited so long to do this, his heart is pounding through his chest because with these two mammoths standing beside him, he calls out to the ring the WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar! Brock Lesnar made his way out to the ringside area and he asked Paul how he's doing? Paul said that he just wanted to talk to Brock. Brock told Paul to shut up. Brock hasn't forgotten about Paul Heyman and Paul shouldn't have forgotten about Brock. Does he think he's stupid? He's going to call him down to the ring to get his ass beat by these two monsters? He's not stupid. Paul told Brock that he just wanted to talk some business with him. Business? That's fine and dandy because if Paul wants Brock to get in that ring and talk business, then he's got somebody he wants to bring out with him. Since the odds are stacked against him right now, it just so happens that he's got a big friend that's going to accompany him in that ring. He's 7 feet tall, 500 pounds, The Big Show! The Big Show's music then hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring and he and Brock Lesnar got in the ring. Brock took the mic and he told Nathan and Morgan to back off. Although he is a little nervous standing in the ring because he has a lot of history with The Big Show and Paul Heyman and he sure as hell can make history out of Morgan and Jones tonight. Brock got in Heyman's face and he told him that he hates his guts! He's always hated his guts, but if he wants to talk business, that's another thing. If he wants to talk business, then talk fast. Paul said that when it comes to business, Paul Heyman is the best that there ever has been. So since Brock is the captain of his own team at Survivor Series, he thought Brock would like to meet... Brock asked who's naming him captain? Paul? Paul said that he's naming him captain of his own team at Survivor Series and he thought Brock would like to meet three out of the four members of his team. On his team will be The Big Show, Matt Morgan and Nathan Jones. Heyman thought that Brock Lesnar would like that. Brock said that he likes what's coming out of his mouth and Paul said that if you like that, you're going to like this. All week long, his phone has been ringing and two people told him that Brock Lesnar and The Big Show make lousy champions. Not only have they told him that but they told him that they're going to make an example out of the two of them tonight, so Paul is going to give them opportunity. And that's to demonstrate what they can do in preparation for Survivor Series. He has a hell of a main event for those two men who have been ringing his phone off the hook because he's got Brock Lesnar and The Big Show going two on two against the APA! Brock said that's fine and dandy and he likes the sound of that. But he's a little confused; exactly why should Brock Lesnar trust Paul Heyman? Paul said that he's not supposed to trust him, but instead trust his greed. With that in mind, he'd like to publicly demonstrate to everyone, with one member still to be named, he gives us four members of Team Lesnar at Survivor Series; Brock Lesnar, The Big Show, Nathan Jones and Matt Morgan. Backstage: Orlando Jordan and Paul London were shown playing the Smackdown! video game and Dawn Marie showed up and gave them a preview of tonight's Trick or Treat costume and they liked what they saw. After she left, they continued on playing their game. Bob Holly once again spoke on Brock Lesnar, saying that he took 12 months of his life when he broke his neck. Bob said that he's not coming back to wrestle or coming back for any titles. He's coming back to hurt Brock Lesnar and make him suffer. Trick or Treat Costume Contest Torrie Wilson vs. Dawn Marie Funaki made his way out to the ring dressed up with some big hair and he welcomed Torrie Wilson and Dawn Marie out to the ring for their Trick or Treat Costume Contest. Torrie and Dawn Marie each had their pose down with their costumes and the fans got to pick the winning costume. After announcing Torrie as the winner of the costume contest, they moved on to part two; bobbing for apples. Torrie started to go first but Dawn wanted to go first. Dawn got in the chocolate filled tub of apples and covered herself in chocolate and took her costume off. Tazz got up out of his seat and said to hold on. First of all, we've just seen the treat. Dawn Marie looked lovely and did a great job and that obviously was the treat. But now, he's thinking Funaki not being from this country, he's not down with the holiday cultures and what we do so being that Dawn Marie was the treat, maybe we should show Funaki the trick, if you know what he means. Torrie then started feeling Funaki up and then she ripped his shirt and asked him if he wanted a trick or a treat? Funaki said treat and she started to feel him up but then she turned around and shoved Tazz into the tub of chocolate, leaving Tazz a mess. Winner: Torrie Wilson A promo was shown for The Cat and apparently, he'll be making his return in a wrestling role. Backstage: John Cena was shown walking through the backstage area and Brock Lesnar caught up with him and congratulated him. Brock might be letting the cat out of the bag early and he doesn't know this for a fact but he thinks Paul Heyman is naming John Cena as the final member of Brock's team for Survivor Series. Brock left and Cena looked confused. Tazz and Cole were shown and Tazz, being covered in chocolate gave Michael Cole a big hug to cover him as well. Backstage: Chavo and Eddie Guerrero were shown and Chavo told Eddie that he's disappointed in him. First, he loses the United States Title and that's fine because that has nothing to do with Chavo but then Eddie loses the Tag Team Championship in the same week. That's Chavo's bread and butter he took away from him. Eddie let his family down and Chavo told Eddie that he's sinking low, just like he did when he was on drugs and alcohol. Eddie makes Chavo sick and he can't even look at him. Eddie owes Chavo, the fans and their family a public apology. Chavo left, telling Eddie to get it together. Eddie backed off, a nervous wreck and then walked away. Eddie Guerrero made his way out to the ring and the fans heavily chanted "Eddie, Eddie!" Eddie said that if Chavo wants a public apology, he's right. Eddie has a lot to be sorry for because he lost two titles in one week. Eddie let Chavo down and he let his family down. If Chavo wants an apology, he's sorry. When Eddie comes out in front of the fans, he gives his heart out here and if that's not what he has done lately, he apologizes. Now Chavo said something back there that hurt. Because if anybody has seen him battle day in and day out this damn disease of alcohol and drugs, it's been Chavo. This isn't a game for Eddie, this isn't a match, this is life. And Eddie can't bring himself to understand. Chavo is right, right now he does suck and he deserves that. But he can't bring himself to understand why Chavo would bring up something like that. Why would he say something like that to him? Maybe it's because Chavo feels Eddie is weak and maybe he is in a weak state; two titles, one week. That's OK, maybe it's good that Chavo brought that up because when you bring something like that up, it brings back a lot of memories and it brings back what he did when he was down. He didn't get out of that hole by feeling sorry for himself, he sees hope and maybe that's all he's got but he'll take that and he'll hold onto it and hold onto the words of his father and what he told him; he said, 'the character of a man is not defined when he's on top, it's defined on how he picks himself up every time he's been knocked down.' Eddie said that he's not going to give it up, that's not Latino style, esse! Eddie is going to fight and he's going to fight for Chavito because he has faith that he will be a Champion and he has faith that they will stand proud again as Tag Team Champions of the World! Eddie will do it for Chavo and he'll do it for himself and his family! As the fans were chanting "Eddie, Eddie," Shaniqua made her way out with the tag team titles and Eddie called her a mamacita wannabe! Eddie told her to wait up because she should think twice before stepping into the ring because if she does, she better be ready to take on Eddie's Latino heat, baby! Shaniqua started to get in the ring and the Bashams came out in an attempt to attack Guerrero from behind but Eddie took care of both of them, disposing them from the ring. Eddie then pulled Shaniqua into the ring and then he went back to work on Doug Basham. Shaniqua attempted to fight back on Eddie but Eddie planted her with a back suplex and then he went to the top rope and went for the frog splash but Danny Basham knocked Eddie down from the top rope. Doug and Danny then double teamed Eddie Guerrero on the outside and Chavo finally came out to the ringside area to help out his uncle Eddie. Backstage: The trainer was checking on Eddie Guerrero and Paul Heyman showed up and Eddie told him to do something about what he just saw. Eddie said that he and Chavo want the Bashams and they want them next week. Paul said that he appreciates that and he's going to do something, but there's new rules. With Paul, it's a clean slate and everybody earns their way with Paul. Paul said that he's going to let Los Guerreros earn their way but they have to earn it next week. If they win, they get a shot at the titles? Paul said that he didn't say anything about Chavo; he means it's Eddie against the Bashams in a Handicap Match! An angered Eddie Guerrero went after Heyman but he left the room. Backstage: Josh Matthews caught up with Kurt Angle and they talked about the Survivor Series. Kurt said that Brock has a big team but he really likes his team's chances. Not only does he have himself and Chris Benoit, but he's got a guy who's waited an entire year to destroy Brock Lesnar and anyone associated with him and that guy is Hardcore Holly and the last two members of his team happened to be the toughest guys in WWE history and they're right over there. The camera panned over and they saw two heavy guys scratching themselves but Kurt pointed out that it's not them, it's the APA! Bradshaw said they have a hell of a team, but tonight, they want Kurt to sit back and watch them kick the living hell out of Brock Lesnar and The Big Show! Earlier today: They had the chance to sit down with the Undertaker and ask why he chose a Buried Alive Match. Taker said that he's been asked two questions; was the beating really worth it and why Vince? As far as the beatings go, sometimes in life, you have to take a few beatings to get what you want. Believe him, he's been beaten by the best. Brock and The Big Show will have to pay in time, but why Vince? There's nothing more that he wants now in his life than to be the five time WWE Champion but that's never going to happen as long as Vince is around. The words came out of Vince's mouth, "as long as I breathe in and breathe out, you will never be WWE Champion." So that's how we arrive at Buried Alive. Hell, it was Vince's idea. Subconsciously, he planted the thought into his head. If he's not going to get a fair shot at the WWE Title with Vince breathing in and out, it's time that he stops breathing in and out. Taker ended by saying that Vince dug his own grave. Brock Lesnar & The Big Show vs. the APA Brock Lesnar's music hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring as the WWE Heavyweight Champion for a tag team match with The Big Show against the APA! Brock Lesnar started it off against Bradshaw and Brock gave Bradshaw a number of right hands and then he backed Bradshaw into the corner and gave him a number of shoulder blocks. Brock Lesnar nailed Faarooq in the spine with a steel chair to lay him out and the referee ended the match in a disqualification. Winners : The APA -DQ- After the match, The Big Show gave Faarooq a choke slam and then Brock put the chair on Faarooq's leg and then the Big Show went to the second rope and leg dropped the chair to possibly break the foot of Faarooq. Brock Lesnar then laid out Bradshaw with the steel chair and Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle eventually made their way out to the ring. Angle gave Big Show an Angle Slam and then Benoit gave Brock a German suplex. Benoit put Brock in the Crossface as Angle put Big Show in the ankle lock. Matt Morgan and Nathan Jones came out to the ring and cleaned house on Benoit and Angle. The show went off the air with Brock Lesnar, Big Show, Nathan Jones and Matt Morgan standing tall in the ring!
