| WWE Smackdown Results - 10/23/03 - Paul Heyman Returns! | |||||||||
| WWE Smackdown! opened up with clips of Vince McMahon vs. Stephanie McMahon from No Mercy. In that match, Vince McMahon defeated his own daughter Stephanie McMahon after Linda McMahon threw in the towel while Vince was choking Stephanie out with a lead pipe. With the result of this match, there will be a new General Manager of Smackdown! announced, tonight! Location: Albany, New York Vince McMahon's music hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring, arm in arm with Sable! Vince took the mic and said "Look here, it's me, Vince McMahon." Vince pointed out that he's still the chairman of the board and he's proud to stand here next to Sable and say to each and every one of you that he beat the snot right out of his very own daughter, Stephanie McMahon. Vince said that nothing bothers him, not even the fans booing him. He knows where he's going when he croaks, but he's not dead, he's very much alive and we're celebrating tonight. As a matter a fact, maybe even like Vince celebrated after No Mercy when he beat his daughter and shoved his wife down on the mat. He celebrated like the rest of you hen pecked husbands and boyfriends who do exactly like you're told. You know how he celebrated after No Mercy? You heard the expression, spare the rod, spoil the child? He didn't spoil the child and he didn't spare the rod. As a matter a fact, he used it all night long. Quite frankly, he accomplished the two things he wanted to accomplish. One, Stephanie McMahon unemployed and the second thing is that Brock Lesnar remains your WWE Champion. Vince admits that Brock needed a little assistance in this match but why wouldn't he? He's a pro wrestler, not a barbarian. He shouldn't have been placed in a match like this to begin with. Vince explained what happened at No Mercy, pointing out that he was responsible for Taker's loss. You see, the Undertaker has to learn the hard way, just like some of the other Superstars but he has to learn even harder. That is that you don't cross the boss and give grief to the head chief. But you do have sex with the man who signs your checks. (Vince referring to Sable.) Vince said that he's on fire, but despite the celebration, they need to get down to business. He thought long and hard as to who should be the next General Manager on Smackdown!. No, that's not Sable's job, but the person he's about to name as the new General Manager is a person that tried to put him out of business. Ladies and gentlemen, here is your new General Manager of Smackdown!... Paul Heyman! Paul Heyman then made his way out to the ring as the new General Manager of Smackdown!. Paul thanked Vince, telling him that he made a wise choice. Paul then told Vince that things are going to change here on Smackdown!. The Undertaker's music hit and he made his way out to the ring to interrupt the new General Manager. Vince got out of the ring and Taker got in the ring. Paul told Taker that he can drop him right now and take his best shot, but let's face it, Paul Heyman is the only hope he's got. Vince McMahon is not going to give him what he wants and he damn well knows it, but Paul Heyman has the power to deliver to him everything that he can possibly hope for. Paul knows what the Undertaker wants, he wants revenge. He has a black heart and malice running through his veins and tonight, Paul Heyman is going to give Taker a chance at that revenge because he envisions a huge main event and that features the Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar... and The Big Show! Now there's something in it for the Undertaker, too. Taker knows Paul is a negotiator and Taker knows Paul values his life right now. There is something in it for Taker. If he happens to win tonight, he gets to name any match he wants. He gets to name the time, place and the opponent and no matter how sick and twisted he can come up with it, Paul Heyman will give him the right to name any single match he wants. That's if he wins and yes, the odds are stacked against him in this Handicap Match, but after 13 years of dominance, Paul Heyman has every faith in his ability. Taker just looked at Paul Heyman and then he grabbed the mic from him and told him he knows Heyman is doing him no favors. In fact, by him just standing in the ring, it's like someone took a huge crap in his yard. Taker told Paul Heyman that his little plan is going to blow up in his face because someway, somehow, Taker is going to win and he will get his revenge and Paul Heyman and nobody else has any idea how sick, twisted and maniacal the Undertaker can be. A-Train & John Cena vs. Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit John Cena's music hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring. Cena got in the ring and said that this is the time that he needs to congratulate Kurt Angle. Shake his hand for a hell of a match and say "thank you." But that's a blunt move, showing him respect is a waste. If he's going to call him out, he's going to spit in his face. Cena went into a full throttle rap, saying that he'll kick the hell out of him and any veteran, too. After Cena finished, A-Train's music hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring as the partner of John Cena for a tag team match against Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit. A-Train started the match off in the ring against Kurt Angle and Angle went behind A-Train and swept him down to the mat by the legs and then he put A-Train in a side headlock on the mat. Kurt Angle gave A-Train the Angle Slam and then John Cena got in the ring as the legal man and went for the FU on Angle but Angle countered it into the ankle lock until A-Train broke it up with the bicycle kick on Angle. John Cena grabbed his steel chain and put it on his hand and then A-Train got in the ring with a steel chair but Chris Benoit grabbed the chair and went to hit A-Train with it, but he inadvertently hit Angle with it. Kurt Angle got up, feeling the effects of the steel chair and then he went to hit Benoit with the chair but missed. Angle and Benoit then got in a brawl in the ring and Angle took Benoit down to the mat and Benoit put Angle in the Crossface as the match was officially thrown away. Winners: No contest WWE officials were forced to come to the ring to pry Chris Benoit off of Kurt Angle and the two exchanged words and then Angle went after Chris Benoit and attacked him and the two continued to brawl in the ring. Angle put Benoit in the ankle lock but Chris Benoit was able to get out of it and get out of the ring. Earlier this week: Jamie Noble recorded comments from his webcam at home. Noble said that he's talking to us from this fancy webcam that he bought his Nidia. Nidia loves stuff like this and she likes to go online and have her fun. Then all the sudden this fancy stuff and all the money he inherited from his aunt isn't important anymore. It's not worth a damn thing compared to his Nidia. He's been by her side since Tajiri sprayed her with the poison. From what doctors are telling them, her sight was impaired that night and it hasn't gotten any better. Right now, they are looking into several surgical options to repair her sight. Jamie thanked everyone for their get well wishes. Noble then said that if his Nidia doesn't come out of this OK, so help him God. Backstage: Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas were shown backstage and they were talking about becoming the tag team champions once again. They then brought up Paul Heyman and he showed up. As an agent, he put together the world's greatest tag team and as a general manager, he inherited the world's greatest liars. Paul noted that after Brock Lesnar took him out, there was no phone calls from Shelton or Charlie. Incase you think he's revengeful, he is. Paul then said that Los Guerreros are waiting down the hallway and they're waiting for another tag team because Haas and Benjamin are out! The Bashams and Shaniqua showed up and Paul said that tonight, the tag team titles will be defended against the Bashams! Paul told Haas and Benjamin that they have a match tonight. In fact, he reformed one of the most entertaining tag teams in WWE history and he'll face them in the ring and so they have ample time to prepare, that match is next! In the skybox: Vince McMahon was shown with Sable in the skybox and Vince asked Sable if she wanted to say hello to the little people and she did just that. Tribute to Stu Hart: Another video package was shown for Stu Hart, this time with Michael Cole doing the voiceovers. Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin vs. Scotty 2 Hotty & Rikishi Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin made their way out to the ring for a tag team match against a 'returning tag team.' Scotty 2 Hotty's music hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring with his tag team partner, Rikishi! Scotty started it off in the ring against Charlie Has and the two locked it up in the center of the ring and Charlie put Scotty in a wrist lock but Scotty flipped out of it and put Charlie in a side headlock. Rikishi went for a splash on Shelton Benjamin in the corner but Shelton moved out of the way and then knocked Rikishi down with a super kick. Shelton then pinned Rikishi but only got a two count. Scotty gave Shelton a bulldog and then he went for the worm but Haas grabbed him from behind to interrupt it. Moments later, Scotty 2 Hotty took Shelton down once again with the bulldog and then he nailed him with the worm. Rikishi splashed Charlie Haas in the corner and then he gave him the stink face to send Haas down to the arena floor. Shelton Benjamin went for a sunset flip on Rikishi but Rikishi sat down on him and pinned him for the three count to pick up the win. Winners:Scotty 2 Hotty & Rikishi Scotty 2 Hotty and Rikishi went back to their old ways by doing their post match dance for the fans. During the celebration, Vince was shown in the skybox dancing with Sable and the Undertaker barged into the room and grabbed Vince, telling him to shut up. He's tired of all the talking, now it's the Undertaker's turn. Taker told Vince to believe him, it's not about the title. It's about Vince McMahon. Vince must think he's a real big man. He beat up his daughter and he throws his wife around, huh? Taker just wanted to come up here and tell Vince face to face that he's not such a big man. He's a pathetic, gutless coward. Hell, if Vince was such a big man, he wouldn't have to pay that slut Sable to sleep with him. Taker gave Vince some advice; stay up here and pray that Taker wins his match tonight because if he doesn't, Taker is going to come back up here and he can believe him when he says this, there won't be any talking. Backstage: Eddie Guerrero was shown being worked on and Chavo told him that he doesn't need that, he needs to suck it up. The only reason he lost the title at No Mercy was because Big Show jumped him from behind. Chavo then told Eddie to focus on the tag team championship match, which is next. Chavo told Eddie that he needs Latino Heat here. He needs that fire for their family and for the titles. Eddie said that Chavo is right, it's all behind him and in the past. Tag Team Championship Match The Basham Brothers vs. Los Guerreros (c) The music of the Basham Brothers hit in the arena and they made their way out to the ring accompanied by Shaniqua for a shot at the Tag Team Championship against the defending champions, Los Guerreros! Eddie Guerrero started the match off against Doug Basham and Eddie backed Doug into the corner and then he kicked, chopped and punched away on him. Shaniqua got in the ring and Eddie Guerrero knocked her down with a boot. Meanwhile, the Basham Brothers switched and Danny grabbed the night stick and nailed Eddie Guerrero with it after he missed the frog splash. Danny then pinned Eddie to get the win and walk away as the new tag team champions! Winners and new Tag Team Champions, the Basham Brothers Josh Matthews caught up with the Bashams and asked them if there's anything they'd like to say? They said that it would be a matter of time and Shaniqua told them to go celebrate with her. During the commercial break, Chavo yelled at Eddie for losing the tag team titles. Chavo left the ring none too pleased as Eddie remained in the ring, down on his loss. Chavo told Eddie to focus as he walked out of the ring. Non Title Match Zach Gowen vs. Tajiri (c) Tajiri's music hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring as the Cruiserweight Champion for a one on one non title match against Zach Gowen. Gowen and Tajiri locked it up in the center of the ring and Tajiri put Gowen in a side headlock and then Gowen took Tajiri down to the mat with some mat wrestling. Gowen rolled Tajiri up in a pin but only got a two count. Tajiri brought Gowen to the top rope and he went for a super back suplex but Gowen gave Tajiri an elbow to the back of the head to knock him down. Zach Gowen went for a moonsault but Tajiri moved out of the way and then he nailed Gowen with the kick of death to pick up the win. Winner: Tajiri Two guys came through the crowd and Tajiri called them into the ring and the three celebrated Tajiri's win with him. Tajiri started to leave but then he noticed that Zach Gowen was getting up and he sent the two guys after Gowen and the two hooked him in a rock bottom position and then swept him and forced him down to the mat, crashing him down on the back of his head. Backstage: Brock Lesnar was shown with the Big Show and he told him that he has to be on top of his game against the Undertaker because they both know what it's like to be in the ring with the Deadman. The last thing Brock wants to do is defend his title one more time against the Deadman. Big Show told Brock that he doesn't have to worry about him being on top of his game. Brock better worry about being on top of his game because he could have more problems than the Undertaker. As nice as the United States Title looks on Big Show's shoulder, the WWE Title would look even better. In the skybox: Vince McMahon and Sable were shown in the skybox attempting to settle down. Bob Holly's mission: A promo with Bob Holly was shown and Bob talked about Brock Lesnar breaking his neck. Bob said that he's coming back for one reason and one reason only and that's to end Brock's career! Tribute to Hawk: A video package was shown in a tribute to Hawk, who passed away this past weekend. Handicap Match Brock Lesnar & The Big Show vs. Undertaker Brock Lesnar's music hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring as the WWE Champion for a handicap match with The Big Show against the Undertaker. The Big Show started it of in the ring against the Undertaker and Big Show ducked under the Undertaker's arms and rammed him into the corner and hammered away on him to officially start it off. The Undertaker grabbed a steel chair and scared both Big Show and Brock Lesnar out of the ring to keep them from double teaming him. The Big Show planted the Undertaker with a choke slam and then he made the tag to Brock Lesnar who pinned Taker but only got a two count. McMahon and Sable were seen looking on from their skybox and they were nervously looking on. Brock Lesnar signaled for The Big Show to go to the top rope and Brock went for a piledriver on Taker and it looked as if they were going for a spike piledriver but Taker fought out of it. With The Big Show on the top rope, the Undertaker grabbed him by the throat and gave him a choke slam from the top rope. Taker then pinned Big Show to get the three count but Paul Heyman came out and said that he's sorry, he screwed up first day on the job. He forgot to mention that this match is 2 out of 3 falls! The Undertaker dominated Brock Lesnar on the outside of the ring and the referee counted Brock out of the match. Paul said to cut the music. Oops, he did it again. He forgot to mention, no count outs in this match. The match will continue! The Big Show then nailed the Undertaker with a steel chair and the referee called for the bell and gave the match to the Undertaker by DQ but Heyman once again took the mic and said that there's no disqualification in the match. With the knowledge of no disqualification, the Undertaker grabbed his biker chain and wrapped it around his fist. Big Show rolled the Undertaker into the ring and Brock went for the F5 but Taker got out of it and nailed Brock with the biker chain and then he nailed The Big Show with it to knock him down from the ring apron. Taker then pinned Brock Lesnar to get the three count, once and for all! Winner: Undertaker The Undertaker celebrated his win until The Big Show attacked him. Big Show rolled Taker into the ring and he and Brock Lesnar double teamed the Undertaker in the ring. The Big Show gave the Undertaker a choke slam in the center of the ring and then he gave him a leg drop. Big Show then gave the Undertaker to Brock Lesnar on the outside of the ring and Brock gave the Undertaker the F5 into the steel ring post to leave him laying. Vince McMahon took the mic and told somebody to tell the Undertaker to stay right there because Vince is going to come down and personally congratulate him. Vince McMahon left the skybox and headed down towards the ring and asked what we have here, the American Bad Ass. He doesn't look so bad to him now. Vince trash talked the Undertaker as he crawled down the aisle way. Vince hovered over the Undertaker and personally congratulated him on his victory. Vince asked the question; was that price he just paid worth it? The agony he just went through, was it worth it just to get his title shot? No, it wasn't worth it because as long as Vince is breathing in and breathing out and as long as he's alive, Taker will never be the WWE Champion! Vince then said he knows Taker wants Brock Lesnar, so where's it going to be? When? What kind of match? In pain, Taker said that he will have his revenge. The place is Survivor Series. Vince asked what kind of demonic match is this going to be? Taker said the match is buried alive! Vince said that's just great, a buried alive match at Survivor Series. Isn't that wonderful. Vince said that at Survivor Series, Brock Lesnar is going to bury the Undertaker six feet under. Taker slowly stood up and grabbed the mic from Vince and he told Vince that he's got it all wrong. Brock Lesnar isn't his opponent at Survivor Series, Vince McMahon is! After hearing that, Vince McMahon looked shocked and speechless and as the show went off the air, the fans chanted "Holy shit, holy shit." Credit: WrestlingAttitude.com |
