WWE Smackdown Results - 9/9/04 - Guerrero vs Angle + Big Show Returns!
WWE SmackDown! (9.09) Results - Tulsa, Oklahoma

Smackdown! opened up with Theodore Long and he said last week on Smackdown, Luther Reigns interfered in the match between Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero, leaving the question who the better wrestler was, so tonight on Smackdown! we are going to surround the ring with wrestlers and have Kurt Angle take on Eddie Guerrero in a Lumberjack Match! The fireworks then went off in the arena as Tazz and Michael Cole welcomed us to the show!

Non Title Match
Charlie Haas vs. John Bradshaw Layfield (c)

The music of WWE Champion, John Bradshaw Layfield, hit in the arena as the limo pulled onto the stage and this will be the first time JBL is in action since SummerSlam! Orlando Jordan accompanied him to the ring as usual and he will be going up against Charlie Haas, who was accompanied by Miss Jackie.

JBL offered a handshake, and Charlie Haas refused. Haas and JBL locked it up as the fans chanted Bradshaw Sucks. JBL knocked Haas down with a shoulder block but Haas came back with a side headlock takedown and then an arm bar and then locked in an leg hold, but JBL made it to the ropes and Haas broke the hold.

Bradshaw knocked Haas down with a boot to the face and then went to work on Haas with chops, and right hands in the corner. Bradshaw delivered a vertical suplex for two and then a swinging neck breaker. Haas fought back with forearm shots and sent JBL to the ropes and scored with a sunset flip for two. Bradshaw fought back with a right hand and then a headbutt to knock Charlie Haas down.

Bradshaw went to work on Haas in the corner with knees to the mid section and right hands. Bradshaw went for the Clothesline From Hell, but Haas countered with a dropkick to the face. Haas went to work with right hands and knocked Bradshaw down with a flying forearm and then a shoulder block. Haas came off the top with a flying axe handle for two.

Haas scored with a T-Bone Suplex and then was distracted because Orlando had Jackie backed into a corner on the outside. Bradshaw then scored with the Clothesline From Hell to pick up the win off the distraction.
Winner, the WWE Champion, John Bradshaw Layfield

The Aftermath: Bradshaw got on the mic and said that he was unbeatable. He said he wants to thank the people here for the love they have given him in Tulsa. Bradshaw said he is going to give them something they can use, a stock tip! Bradshaw said to invest in JBL; its a proven winner and you a guaranteed return. Since he has been champion, unemployment is low and home ownership is high. Bradshaw said that he has beat everyone they have put in front of him, on the way to becoming the greatest and most popular WWE Champion of all time, but his greatest achievement was at SummerSlam when he emerged victorious against the Undertaker. Bradshaw said that for the first time in his career, he failed, and since he failed, there will be no more title shots or championship matches for the Undertaker, so in honor of his title hopes being dead, he is going to give him something he is worthy of. Two weeks today in this very ring, he is going to give the Undertaker a funeral, he said the Undertaker is history. He said Undertaker has been the greatest competitor in WWE, until Bradshaw came along. The torch has been passed. Bradshaw said he believes in doing things with class, so at this funeral, at his expense, he is going to bring the Undertaker his last ride. The music of the Undertaker hit in the arena and a hearse made its way out to the aisle. Bradshaw said that its time for the Undertaker to rest in peace. The music of Theodore Long then hit in the arena and he said that Bradshaws pronouncement of the Undertakers career is premature. Long said he knows Bradshaw is a whole lot of things, but he is not the General Manager. Now, if he wants to have a funeral out here, then go ahead, but as far as the Undertaker not getting another title match, Long makes that decision. This hearse gives Long an idea, live at No Mercy, JBL vs. The Undertaker, and it will be a Last Ride Match. What that means is that there will be no submissions, no pin falls, just a lonely hearse. The winner has to beat his opponent so badly that all he has to do is stuff him in the hearse and send him on his last ride, and the winner will walk out of No Mercy as the WWE Champion, so JBL, you better recognize, playa! JBL and Orlando then argued in the ring as we go to commercial break!

Tonight on Smackdown: Tonight, Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero will go head to head in a Lumberjack Match, and up next, the WWE Tag Team Titles will be on the line as Billy Kidman and Paul London defend against Kenzo Suzuki and Rene Dupree!

Kidman stood in the aisle and then walked out, as London was screaming for him to come back as we went to commercial.

Back on Smackdown! and Dupree is in control of London with a side headlock, but London fought out of it. Dupree then took London down with an arm hold, working on the injured shoulder of London. Tazz said he couldnt believe Kidman had the nerve to walk out on London, and London came back with a super kick to knock down Dupree and made the cover but Kenzo made the save, and then London took him out with a kick. London was whipped to the ropes, and Kenzo pulled the top rope down, sending London to the outside, and then Kenzo sent London into the post, shoulder first.
