WWE Smackdown Results 7/3/03 - Zack Gowen/Stephanie McMahon vs Big Show
Vince McMahon kicked off the show, coming to us from the TitanTron. He said Zack Gowen would get his chance at a contract tonight when he and Stephanie took on the Big Show in the first "real" handicap match. Vince also said he'd blow the lid off the Mr. America/Hulk Hogan problem.

Rey Mysterio defeated Nunzio (with Johnny Stamboli & Chuck Palumbo). Palumbo and Stamboli got ejected from ringside early on but came back later in the match and tried to interfere, only to have the APA come out and brawl with them. In the ring, Mysterio scored the 619 and followed it up with a springboard legdrop for the win. Billy Kidman, who was watching from ringside, stepped in the ring and congratulated Mysterio but Mysterio backed off.

Backstage, Stephanie McMahon talked with Vince and tried to get out of the handicap match but Vince said it was still on.

Also backstage, Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar were enjoying some milk and cookies when a girl came by and said, "Hey, champ." Lesnar and Angle then argued over who was the real champ, since Brock is the WWE champ, but Angle is an Olympic champ. Brock backed off and Kurt tried to hit on the girl but Lesnar came back into the picture, gave Kurt a hard pat on the back, causing him to spit his milk out all over the girl.

Meanwhile, Sable offered some sarcastic words of encouragement to Stephanie and added that she could be a fine general manager, should anything happen to Stephanie.

The Undertaker was seen backstage giving some advice to the new rookie, Orlando Jordan. John Cena then interrupted and annoyed Taker.

Billy Gunn (with Torrie Wilson) defeated John Cena in a first round United States Championship Tournament match. Cena cut another good rap before the match started. Cena controlled most of the match but still couldn't get the three count even after a front flip neckbreaker (which he calls the Throwback), so Cena stepped outside and grabbed his chain but before he could use it, The Undertaker rolled out on his bike and made a trek around the ring. This distracted Cena long enough for Gunn to roll him up with a small package.

Chris Benoit & Rhyno defeated The Basham Brothers (with Shaniqua).
Benoit and Rhyno seemed to have smoothed things over as they controlled most of the match with Benoit getting the win via the Crossface. Shaniqua also seemed to have some interest in Benoit.

Backstage, Angle and Lesnar were laughing about the previous incident when Angle said everything has to be a competition with Brock. Angle challenged Brock to do 300 pushups. Lesnar got started as the show went to break and after the break, Lesnar was at 296, struggling to get finished. Lesnar did 301, an extra for Kurt and then collapsed and said it was Kurt's turn. Angle decided to call Brock the winner and left him laying there.

Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin defeated Eddie Guerrero & Tajiri to win the WWE Tag Team Titles. Guerrero and Tajiri came out in a tricked out Chevy S10 pickup, which came into play later. All around excellent match by these four. Haas and Benjamin hit a variety of excellent double team moves, Tajiri nailed his brutal kicks and when Eddie got the hot tag, the place exploded. Towards the end, Tajiri got knocked off the apron and onto the hood of the truck, once Eddie saw this, it distracted him and Haas held him from behind while Benjamin nailed him with a superkick and then Haas rolled through with that into a pinning bridge. Benjamin then got the referee in the ring (who was checking on Tajiri) to make the three count.

After the match, Eddie seemed concerned for Tajiri but we then found out that he was concerned for his truck. After a commercial break, Eddie flipped out on Tajiri and kicked him a few times before slamming him into the windshield (and shattering it) of the truck. Tajiri was then carted out on a stretcher.

Backstage, Zack Gowen was stretching when the Big Show got in his face about the match tonight.

A-Train defeated Orlando Jordan. Virtually no offense from Jordan, great followup to his debut, yay. A-Train hit the Derailer (which is the double handed chokeslam, I thought it was the move where he has the guy on his shoulder and drops on his knees, but that's called the Train Wreck. Pick a frickin' move, would you?) Aaaanyway, Jordan did make a slight comeback but missed a crossbody off the top which led to the Train Wreck and the win for A-Train.

Backstage, Show intimidated Stephanie, saying he'd like to hurt her in other ways than in the ring. Stephanie took off and then Show ran into Vince who reminded him that it was his daughter out there tonight.

Vince McMahon entered the ring with Sable next and said some words about Mr. America/Hulk Hogan before rolling some never before seen footage from last week. The footage showed Hogan lifting up his mask, thus revealing Hulk Hogan. Vince then said Hogan and Mr. America will both be in the same place tomorrow, the unemployment line. Vince then said he was waiting a long time to say it and in his trademark tone, he told Hogan he was fired. Vince then moved on to the main event for Vengeance, he said not only would Lesnar be taking on Angle but he'd be taking on the Big Show as well in a Triple Threat match for the WWE title. Before going over to ringside, Vince announced that the handicap match was a no holds barred match.

Stephanie McMahon & Zack Gowen defeated Big Show to win a WWE contract for Gowen.
Show threw Gowen all over the ring for the first minute or so and then they went to the outside where Steph jumped on Show's back only to get tossed to the floor. Show went after Gowen, who apparently went under the ring but when Show grabbed Gowen's leg, he came up with only his prosthetic. Gowen came up from the other side of the ring and hit a dropkick on Show but Show rebounded and chucked Gowen into the ring. Later in the match, Vince tried to get involved but Gowen yanked him off the apron. Show then chokeslammed Gowen and went to chokeslam Stephanie but Kurt Angle came out and locked Show in the anklelock. Vince clocked Angle with a chair and this brought out Brock Lesnar who cleaned house. Angle then hit an Angle Slam on Show, followed by an F5 from Brock and finally followed by a moonsault and a pin from Gowen.
