| WWE Smackdown Results - 3/4/04 - Eddie vs Heyman! | ||||||||
| Paul Heyman and Dawn Marie were shown in the backstage area and Paul Heyman welcomed us to his Smackdown!. Paul said that this is a difficult evening for him because as General Manager of Smackdown!, he feels compelled to apologize for the actions of Eddie Guerrero. Last week, Mr. Guerrero tried to get his hands on Kurt Angle and in doing so, he found himself handcuffed, placed into a police car and the WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero was placed under arrest. Paul said that they are embarrassed by the behavior of the WWE Champion and Kurt Angle is embarrassed by Eddie's actions as well. As a matter a fact, Kurt Angle, in an attempt to prevent something like that again this week has graciously volunteered to not appear here live tonight. As a concession to Kurt Angle, Paul has granted him time to tell his side of the story via satellite. Paul will also give Eddie Guerrero time to tell his side of the story live, in the ring. Because Paul Heyman is hereby demanding that Eddie Guerrero, tonight, walk out to that ring and issue a public apology for his reprehensible behavior. Stone Cold Steve Austin's music hit in the arena and Brock Lesnar rode out to the ring on Stone Cold Steve Austin's ATV and this past Monday night on RAW, someone stole that vehicle and it looks like we now know who did it as Brock Lesnar rode it to the ring here tonight on Smackdown!. Brock Lesnar got in the ring with a huge smile on his face and he took the mic and said that before he beats the hell out of Hardcore Holly tonight, he has a few things he wants to say to Stone Cold Steve Austin. Yes, Steve, that is his four wheeler. Oh wait, that was his four wheeler. That four wheeler right there is a Brock Lesnar sportsman 700 four wheeler and it will go over anything. It will drive over anything, except a tow truck! You see, Steve being the sheriff and all, you would think he would know where to and where not to park. Unlike Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar has guts. It takes guts to go on another show and attack him, just like he did two weeks ago when Brock F5'd Steve Austin on RAW. Brock Lesnar said now that he got rid of Steve Austin, how does that saying go? Bill Goldberg, you're next! That's right, Bill Goldberg is next. You see, Goldberg, it's because of him that Brock Lesnar is standing bare naked in this ring without his WWE Title. Because of Bill Goldberg, Brock Lesnar is not the Champion. Bill Goldberg, March 14th, Madison Square Garden, it will be Brock Lesnar beating Bill Goldberg senseless because Brock wants Goldberg to feel exactly what he is feeling right now and that is pain. Hardcore Holly vs. Brock Lesnar Brock started to say to mark his words but Hardcore Holly's music hit in the arena and he stormed to the ring and went at it with Brock Lesnar to officially start this one on one contest. Hardcore Holly gave Brock Lesnar a number of right hands to knock him out of the ring and then he nailed him with a few more on the outside and then rolled him back into the ring, dropped an elbow and pinned Brock for a one count. Brock Lesnar went for a right hand on Hardcore Holly but Holly ducked it and gave Brock a back suplex and then a pin for a two count. Moments later, Brock Lesnar grabbed Hardcore Holly and planted him with the F5 to pick up the win. Winner - Brock Lesnar Brock Lesnar called for some beers to celebrate his win over Hardcore Holly in an attempt to taunt Stone Cold Steve Austin. As Brock celebrated, the Stone Cold Steve Austin music hit and Brock celebrated as if he was Stone Cold Steve Austin. Brock then got out of the ring and hopped onto the ATV and rode it to the backstage area. Danny Basham vs. Scotty 2 Hotty Doug and Danny Basham made their way out to the ring and Danny Basham is set for one on one action against Scotty 2 Hotty! Danny and Scotty locked it up in the center of the ring and Scotty put Danny in a side headlock and Danny whipped Scotty off the ropes but Scotty came back with a hard shoulder block to knock Danny down to the mat. Scotty then jumped on Danny and put him in a side headlock down on the mat and Danny rolled Scotty over and pinned him for a one count. Scotty 2 Hotty went off the ropes and planted Danny Basham with a bulldog and then he set up for the worm. As Rikishi had the referee distracted, Doug and Danny switched and Doug got in the ring and laid down and when Scotty went to hit him with the chop, he got up and then Doug rolled Scotty up for the three count to get the win. Winner - Danny Basham Kurt Angle was shown getting set up for his interview, live from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania via satellite. Michael Cole said everyone wants to know why he isn't here in Georgia tonight? Kurt Angle said there's a poison seeping through the moral fiber of this country. It seems as though we can't open a newspaper without reading about a disgraced athlete and last week, the WWE Champion gets himself arrested. That's exactly what Kurt Angle feared and he's not about to show up at the arena and have Eddie Guerrero lose control to see more people get hurt. Michael Cole said that Eddie Guerrero will issue an apology tonight and Kurt cut him off, asking Michael if he really thinks Eddie Guerrero is sorry? Kurt said that he knows the people love Eddie but last week, Kurt was booed and his feelings were hurt. Michael asked Kurt if he regrets any of his actions from last week on Smackdown!? Kurt said absolutely not because if his actions changed one person's mind, then it was worth it to him. We have the greatest fan in the world, but they have no appreciation for what they are doing and that's what hurts him the most but he knows deep down, the people are good. But as long as Eddie Guerrero is the Champion, it's only going to get worse and that's why his match at Wrestlemania is important because he's not only fighting for himself, but he's fighting for his country. He won't allow Eddie Guerrero to bring shame and disgrace upon this company any longer. Non Title Match Sho Funaki vs. Chavo Guerrero (c) Sho Funaki made his way out to the ring and at Wrestlemania, he will be one of ten men in the Cruiserweight open at Wrestlemania. Here are the list of names in the Cruiserweight Open at Wrestlemania: Rey Mysterio, Billy Kidman, Ultimo Dragon, Shannon Moore, Akio, Tajiri, Jamie Noble, Nunzio, Sho Funaki and the defending Champion, Chavo Guerrero! Chavo Guerrero's music then hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring along with Chavo, Sr. as the opponent of Sho Funaki here tonight and this is a non title match as Funaki will have his shot at Chavo at Wrestlemania! Chavo Guerrero gave Funaki a shot to the back of the neck and then he whipped him off the ropes and went for a hip toss but Funaki blocked it and took Chavo down with a hip toss of his own. Funaki rolled Chavo Guerrero up from behind and pinned him but only got a two count. Funaki went to the top rope and came off with a cross body into a pin but Chavo, Sr. got on the ring apron to distract the referee. When Funaki set his sights on Chavo, Sr., Chavo, Jr. got up and gave Funaki a neck breaker over his knee and then he pinned him for the three count to get the win. Winner - Chavo Guerrero Paul Heyman and Dawn Marie were shown and Dawn seemed to be enjoying the show but Paul Heyman said that he can't take it anymore. It's time for them to go out to the ring and it's time for Eddie Guerrero to issue his public apology. Dawn said that she doesn't want to go out there but Paul said that they are going out to the ring and Eddie Guerrero is going to issue his public apology. Paul Heyman and Dawn Marie made their way out to the ring and Paul took the mic and told Dawn that he thinks she should go back to the office because Eddie Guerrero is going to walk down that aisle and issue a public apology and after what he did to her last week, this isn't a safe environment for a lady like Dawn. Paul then sent her back to the office and she got out of the ring and left. Paul said let's get down to business. His patience with Eddie Guerrero has worn thin and he publicly demands that he walks down that aisle, get in the ring and issue his public apology right now. Eddie Guerrero's music hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring as the WWE Heavyweight Champion! The fans heavily chanted "Eddie, Eddie" as he got in the ring. Paul then said that the first thing Eddie needs to do is wipe that smile off of his face. Because sir, he is out here to apologize and that's exactly what he's going to do. He's going to apologize for being the first WWE Champion with a history of drug addiction. He is going to apologize for his reprehensible behavior last week. He is going to apologize for assaulting an innocent and defenseless young woman last week. He is going to apologize for disgracing the WWE Championship and by God, he is going to apologize for disgracing Paul Heyman's Smackdown!. Eddie Guerrero took the mic and said that if he's done anything to disgrace the WWE Championship or the WWE fans, then he's sorry. Paul said "what?" Eddie once again apologized and Paul told Eddie that his apology is accepted, but it is long overdue. Eddie added something else. When he said that he's sorry, he forgot to tell us that he lies! His motto is "I lie, I cheat, I steal!" And Eddie got Paul Heyman going, check out his face. If Eddie had a camera, he'd take a picture of Paul because he's funny! Eddie said that he's not going to sit here and tell Paul Heyman that he's sorry for being a proud father, for being a proud husband, for being a provider of his family. No, he's proud to be the WWE Champion! He's proud to represent the WWE fans, holmes! And you want to know what he's really proud of? That he's walking into Wrestlemania XX as the WWE Champion! But you know what? He's also going to walk out of Wrestlemania as the WWE Champion! Paul asked Eddie if he's done and the fans heavily chanted "Eddie, Eddie!" Eddie told Paul that he can talk now and Paul said that he gives Eddie a chance to come out on his show and offer a public apology and he spits it back in his face this way? Eddie told Paul to take it easy and Paul said not to do that. The only thing he has in his heart that matches his distain as WWE Champion is Paul's contempt for Eddie as a human being. Paul spelled it out for Eddie; he is so sorry that Kurt Angle is not here tonight, he wishes he was here tonight because Paul Heyman would love to watch Kurt Angle beat Eddie Guerrero into the ground! You know what else he wishes? Paul wishes his hands were not tied by the board of directors and he wishes he was in a position to beat some sense into Eddie himself. Eddie told Paul that he couldn't beat him if he had both hands tied behind his back. Paul said he finds that to be very interesting. He's serious when he says that? Or is this another lie? Let's ask the audience; is Eddie Guerrero man enough, with his hands tied behind his back to beat up Paul Heyman? The fans cheered and Paul said that it looks like the public wants Paul to call his bluff, so that's what he's going to do because tonight in this very ring on Paul Heyman's Smackdown!, it will be the disgraced, disgusting WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero and his hands won't be tied behind his back, Paul is going to put him in a more comfortable position that he's used to. His hands will be handcuffed behind his back and his opponent will be the General Manager of Smackdown! himself, Paul Heyman! Six Man Tag Team Match Rey Mysterio, Ultimo Dragon and Billy Kidman vs. Tajiri, Akio and Sakoda The music of Rey Mysterio hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring along with Billy Kidman and Ultimo Dragon and they are partners tonight but in ten days at Wrestlemania, they will all be opponents as they face off in the Cruiserweight Open for the Cruiserweight Title! Ultimo Dragon started it off in the ring against Akio and Ultimo put Akio in a full nelson and then he quickly released it into a side headlock and Akio whipped Ultimo off the ropes but Ultimo came back with a shoulder block to knock Akio down to the mat. Rey Mysterio gave Akio a head scissors right into the second rope and he went for the 619 but Tajiri tripped Rey up. Kidman then nailed Tajiri with a baseball slide and then a plancha over the top rope. Akio whipped Rey into the ropes but Rey swung on the ropes and hit Akio with a 619 and then Rey planted Akio with a vicious DDT and then the pin for the three count to get the win! Winners - Ultimo Dragon, Billy Kidman and Rey Mysterio Paul Heyman was shown with Dawn Marie and Dawn was attempting to talk Paul Heyman out of the match. Paul told Dawn that his gear has arrived here at the arena. Paul talked about what happened last week and how Dawn was defenseless. Now, Eddie is going to be defenseless and Paul is going to give him a beating. Paul promised Dawn that for what he did last week to Dawn, Paul is going to beat Eddie Guerrero down and embarrass him and by the time tonight is over, Eddie Guerrero is going to be eliminated. The music of the APA hit in the arena and Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin made their way out to the ring, dressed up like the APA, poking fun at them. Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin poked fun at the APA on the mic and they even sang a song to further piss off the APA. Faarooq and Bradshaw finally hit the ring and brawled with Haas and Benjamin and the Basham Brothers stormed to the ring and attacked the APA from behind to assist Haas and Benjamin in beating the APA down to the mat. As the beating went on, Scotty 2 Hotty and Rikishi came out to the ring and scared Haas, Benjamin and the Bashams clear out of the ring. A-Train and The Big Show were shown backstage and Big Show was seemingly motivating A-Train for his match against John Cena, next! A-Train vs. John Cena John Cena's music hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring and this is a one on one contest with John Cena facing the big A-Train! Prior to the match, Cena worked the mic, taking shots at Haas and Benjamin, A-Train and The Big Show who will be John Cena's opponent for the United States Championship at Wrestlemania! Cena kicked A-Train in the gut and put him in a side headlock and A-Train whipped Cena off the ropes and A-Train plowed through Cena with a hard shoulder block to knock him down to the mat. A-Train went for the derailer but John Cena gave A-Train a shot to the mid section and then he planted him with the FU and a pin for the three count to get the win! Winner - John Cena During John Cena's post match celebration, The Big Show's music hit and he came out, applauding John Cena. Big Show took a mic and said it's funny about John Cena. Every single time Big Show thinks Cena is going down, he comes back. A-Train had him dead to rights but what did Cena do? He overcame adversity and that's what it takes to be the United States Champion. But you know what? That's not the only thing about Cena. Big Show envies John Cena. Not because his witty raps or because of his body but for his ability to dream. While Cena is running around dreaming, he woke up a sleeping giant. A giant that has beaten The Rock in Madison Square Garden. A giant that has pinned Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship in Madison Square Garden. A giant that has retired Hulk Hogan in Madison Square Garden. That's the difference between the two of them, Cena lives in a fantasy world and Big Show lives a reality and while Cena is dreaming, he's going to walk into a 7 foot nightmare. They say Wrestlemania XX is where it all begins again but for John Cena, Wrestlemania XX is just where Cena ends. Paul Heyman was shown backstage with Dawn Marie and referee Brian Hebner and Paul laid down the law for tonight's match with Heyman against Guerrero. Brian said that he needs the key for the cuffs but Paul said that the key stays with Heyman. Eddie isn't going to lie, cheat and steal this one. Paul is going to do something that Eddie Guerrero's father should have done long ago and that's beating some sense into Eddie Guerrero. Brian Hebner left the room and Dawn asked Paul if he's going to be OK and Paul said he'll be just fine. Non Title Match Paul Heyman vs. Eddie Guerrero (c) Paul Heyman's music hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring and this is a one on one match with Paul Heyman against the WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero and in this match, Eddie Guerrero's hands will be cuffed behind his back! Eddie got his hands cuffed and Paul Heyman got in his face and the two yelled at each other and Paul Heyman nailed Eddie Guerrero in the head but that didn't do much to Guerrero. Eddie told Paul to do it again and he went to but Eddie kicked Paul in the mid section and then he backed him into the corner and kicked away on him. Paul Heyman eventually bailed out of the ring and went down the aisle way and Kurt Angle showed up and Eddie Guerrero had a look of fear on his face as his hands were cuffed and Kurt Angle was free to do anything he wanted. Kurt Angle locked his eyes on Eddie Guerrero and he tried to get in the ring with Guerrero but Guerrero kicked at him to keep him out of the ring. Angle eventually grabbed Eddie's foot to trip him up and then Kurt got in the ring and went for a right hand on Eddie but Eddie ducked it and kicked away on Kurt. Kurt finally got control of Eddie Guerrero and launched him into the top rope and then Kurt gave Eddie Guerrero a series of hard right hands as the fans heavily chanted "you suck, you suck!" Kurt Angle left Eddie Guerrero laying in the ring and then Kurt Angle got out of the ring and grabbed the WWE Championship belt and brought it into the ring and Kurt grabbed Eddie by the face and told Eddie to look him right in the face and Eddie Guerrero spat right in Kurt Angle's face and then he begged Kurt Angle to hit him and Kurt Angle laid right into Eddie Guerrero with the WWE Championship belt and then he stood over Eddie Guerrero, holding the Championship in the air as the show went off the air.
