WWE.com: How does it feel being here?
Sable: It feels wonderful. Everyone has been so kind since I returned, and it's just an opportunity for me to have a second chance at doing something that I really love.
WWE.com: What about being backstage for the first time in four years?
Sable: Well, I have to say I was very nervous to come back and walk through the doors for the first time. But everyone has been nothing but kind and has made me feel very welcome. I'm very excited to be back.
WWE.com: So you were a little nervous coming here?
Sable: Yeah. I think anyone in my position, after a four-year hiatus, would be a little nervous. But, like I said, so far everything has gone very well.
WWE.com: Are you anticipating any tension or negative feelings backstage?
Sable: I hate to anticipate anything. I came here to do my job. I came here to prove myself once again. I know it's going to take time for me to fit in and maybe be trusted, or whatever the case may be. I'm very dedicated and committed to making this work. The only thing I can do is be myself, and hopefully that'll be good.
WWE.com: Do you know at this point how long you're here for?
Sable: Well, I have signed a long-term contract, so I'm hoping to be around for a while.
WWE.com: Do you anticipate that you'll be wrestling at all?
Sable: I have no expectations at this point. I'm not exactly sure what my position in the company will be. I'm just going to take one day at a time, and enjoy every minute of it. Not many people get a second chance, and I do, so I'm just going to enjoy it.
WWE.com: How did this second chance come about?
Sable: I had a meeting with Vince (McMahon) and Jim Ross, and at that time we decided to put the past behind us and move forward. We don't want to discuss anything that happened in the past, or anything negative. Everything's very positive at this point, and I'd like to keep it that way.
WWE.com: What's your relationship like with Vince and J.R.?
Sable: Well, at this point, we've had one meeting in the past four years. (Laughs) I very much look forward to returning to the company and just starting that relationship back up. I know it's going to take time for us all to learn to trust one another again. But I just want them to know that I am totally committed to making this work.
WWE.com: Did you ever expect when you left that you might wind up back here one day?
Sable: You know, stranger things have happened. In this business, you learn to never say never. I never did say never. I always hoped that there could be a possibly for a return. And I just pursued other things while I was gone. I'm just going to come back very grateful and make the most of this opportunity.
WWE.com: Some people are going to be very surprised that you're back because of what happened in the past.
Sable: Well, if they think they're surprised, they have no idea how I feel! (Laughs)
WWE.com: Do you expect that this second run will be more pleasant than the first?
Sable: I think that anytime you take any kind of extended period of time away from anything, whatever it may be -- a relationship, a career -- I think you have a newfound appreciation for it. I think sometimes when you're in the moment, you don't appreciate it. When you have to step back and really see the opportunity that you had, you learn to appreciate it more. This time, I'll certainly live each day to the fullest and make the most of this opportunity.
WWE.com: There were rumors that you were difficult to work with the last time you were here. Is that true?
Sable: If you asked me, I'd have to say no. I had many friends within the business, and continue to have many friends. But I think that anytime there is competition, and one person maybe excels quicker or to a different level than other people, there will always be a sense of jealously or competitiveness. The way I learned to deal with that was just basically to stay to myself. I didn't want to fuel any rumors and I didn't want to say anything negative. So I found the easiest thing to do was to be a loner. People can perceive that anyway they choose, but I just learned by keeping my mouth shut and doing what I was supposed to do, it was just easier to get along. I love having friends and I love being part of a family atmosphere, but you can only do that if both sides are willing.
WWE.com: Is that going to be your philosophy this time around? Or are things going to be different?
Sable: My philosophy, as I said, is just to come back with a really positive attitude. There are a lot of new people here. Maybe a lot of the people who perceived me a certain way in the past are no longer here. And for whatever reason, I just feel it will be different this time. I feel very welcome.
WWE.com: There were also rumors that you got a "big head" once you appeared in Playboy. True?
Sable: Absolutely not. I've always been shy in a lot of ways, and I come from very humble beginnings. I don't believe that was the case. Anytime there's any kind of jealousy, people are going to say whatever they want to say. And maybe me withdrawing from things that were said about me was not the best way to handle it. But it was the way I found to handle it then.
WWE.com: What happened that night in WCW, just after you left WWE? You were sitting in the front row. People assumed that meant you were going to end up there.
Sable: Well, at that time, I had a lot of friends who were working at WCW, and I was in town. I was doing "Larry King Live," I believe. And they invited me to the show, so I showed up.
WWE.com: And that's it?
Sable: That's it.
WWE.com: How are you feeling about tonight -- the first time in front of fans in four years?
Sable: Actually, I'm feeling very excited. I've been working within the entertainment business since I left. But to work in front of a live audience is just an unbelievable experience, so I really look forward to hearing my music, walking through the curtain again, and just seeing the live crowd.
WWE.com: Will you talk a little bit more about what you've done in the entertainment business since WWE fans last saw you?
Sable: Sure. I shot four movies since I've been away. I was in "Corky Romano," with Chris Kattan, and I starred in three movies that I did on my own in North American Productions. They have not been released yet. But it was just a great experience. I learned a lot about the business, about the production, what goes on behind the scenes, more about acting. I've was able to do some music videos. I did a music video called "Breath" with Cledus T. Judd. It was a parody on "Breathe," and it was nominated for video of the year. That was a lot of fun. It was the first time I got to show my comedic side. I don't think a lot of people realize that I can be very funny. It was a lot of fun.
WWE.com: Will you still pursue acting now that you're back?
Sable: Right now my focus is on the wrestling industry. I need to come back and prove myself. I need to come back and let everyone know that I'm committed and dedicated to making this work. And I know it's going to take time for people to trust me again. If an opportunity does come up, and the industry is agreeable with it, then, sure, I would like to pursue that.
WWE.com: What's your husband (Marc Mero) up to these days? How's he doing?
Sable: My husband is doing wonderful. He's working real-estate investments. He used his body for so long -- for 10 years he was in the business and had a wonderful career. And now he's choosing to use his mind. He really enjoys the career that he's chosen at this point.
WWE.com: How closely have you kept up with WWE's product?
Sable: Well, since I've signed my contract (about a month ago), very closely. Traveling and being on the road -- I lived in California for a while, while I was working -- I didn't really have a lot of time to keep up with the product. But from what I have seen, the product is tremendous. The production value is so much better, not to say it wasn't good at that time, but I think it's just made tremendous leaps and bounds.
WWE.com: Are there any particular Superstars who have impressed you?
Sable: I'll tell you what I'm impressed with: I'm impressed with all the young, new talent they've brought in. I'm impressed with the dedication and commitment that I see from these performers. Every time you see them, they get better and better. I'm really, really excited about the new women's division. I believe that they add so much to the show. And I believe that Sable can be a big part of that. I believe that she left when she was just reaching her stride, and she had so much more to offer. So I'm really glad to be back and be a part of that.
WWE.com: It must've been hard to walk away because you were so popular at the time.
Sable: You know, it was really hard to walk away from that. But I think that when certain things happen, or certain things are said, you reach a point where you need to be true to yourself. I felt that it would be better to step back at that time.
WWE.com: Have you kept in touch with anybody?
Sable: Yeah, I have. There are a lot of people who are new here. But I still have a lot of friends in the industry that I've kept in touch with. I don't necessarily want to name names.My husband was in the industry for 10 years, and I was in it basically the whole time with him -- not so much a part of it, but knowing the people. We've made a lot of friends, and kept in touch with a lot of them.
WWE.com: Is there anything you want to add?
Sable: Just how excited I am to be back. I think there are not many times in your life that you get a second chance to live your dream. I come back with such a new appreciation for what I had and lost. And I'm just totally dedicated and committed to making it work this time.
