The Raw music video plays, the pyros explode and we are LIVE from Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana.

We're shown a recap of last week's RAW, including the incident where Shane McMahon kicked Kane into a burning dumpster. They also show some bonus footage after the cameras stopped rolling of arena workers putting out the fire.

Jerry Lawler vs. Jonathan Coachman
Jerry "The King" Lawler comes out for his match tonight against Jonathan Coachman. We're shown highlights from last week. Coachman comes out in a Texas football jersey and starts hopping around avoiding Lawler who decks him with a right hand. The match really doesn't go anywhere until Al Snow comes out with a mic telling Coach to stop because there's no point since Lawler is a wrestler and he's just a commentator. Coach refuses his advice and gets back into the ring and right into a wrist lock so Snow speaks once again, saying he's embarassing himself and Sunday Night Heat.
Al then asks Lawler to stop, let him go and he'll throw the towel in for him. Lawler complies so Coach jumps out and yells at Snow saying he doesn't need his help and to get lost. Snow then attacks Lawler from behind and rams him into the ring post and Coach quickly covers him and gets the victory. Snow and Coachman celebrate all the way up the ramp.
Winner: Jonathan Coachman

Backstage, Terri interviews Shane McMahon saying last week was very disturbing. She talks about how when the fire was extinguished, Kane was simply nowhere to be seen - does that concern him? Shane says he hopes Kane is still burning and Terri tells him to be careful.

Backstage, Al Snow and Coachman continue boasting about what they did to Jerry Lawler. Eric Bischoff comes into the picture and seems angry but then he cracks up and says he wished he thought of that. All three of have a laugh before being interrupted by Stone Cold who asks Coachman if he thinks he's special. Austin says he'll think of something special just for Coachman and leaves, presumably for the ring.

Austin enters the ring and takes down the Highlight reel set which was already up in the ring. Stone Cold asks JR to stand up (which he does) and then says that JR is his boy but he's making him sick. Austin says that at Unforgiven, he'll book JR in a match against Coach. He then announces Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels for the PPV as well and the Evolution against Maven, Shawn Michaels and Goldberg for tonight in a six-man tag team match. And that's the bottom line cause...

...Chris Jericho's music interrupts Austin and Jericho marches out with an angry look on his face. He asks Austin if he knows how much this set cost and Austin says he does because he signed the check. Jericho then asks why he isn't in the main event and as an apology for breaking his set, Stone Cold should get down on his hands and knees and kiss his boots. Stone Cold says he doesn't have time for this and gives Jericho the finger.

Christian's music hits and he says that if anyone deserves respect around here, it's him. His peeps respect and love him so what's Austin's problem? Christian then tells Austin he's still waiting for his apology from last week but Stone Cold tells him to keep waiting because it's not happening. Austin the proceeds to say that both Christian and Jericho will be in action tonight but the two heels assume that they will be teaming up until Stone Cold breaks the news that they will be wrestling tonight for the Intercontinental championship!

Intercontinental Title
Chris Jericho vs. Christian

We come back to see the match already underway. The roll around on the mat with headlocks and reversals and the audience chants "boring". Match ends up outside a few minutes later where Jericho hurls Christian over and across the steel steps. Back in the ring, Jericho nails Christian with a leg to the gut and then uncovers one of the turnbuckles which the ref went to fix, allowing Jericho to choke Christian out.
Match progresses with Christian gaining the advantage via a modified inverted DDT. Christian gets crotched on the top rope so Jericho then hits a superplex from there but gets only a two count. Bulldog by Jericho but Christian gets out and misses an UnPrettier which Jericho counters into the Walls of Jericho. Christian fights out and a few seconds later, we get a ref bump when Jericho misses a high cross body from the top rope.
Christian uses the opportunity to bring in the title belt but he misses and gets clocked instead just as the ref wakes up. Cover by Jericho but Christian gets a shoulder up at the last split second. Jericho then rolls up Christian and grabs onto the ropes but the ref catches him and breaks it up. Christian then gives him a taste of his own medicine by doing the same thing but this time, the ref doesn't see it and counts the three.
Winner: Christian

Backstage, Stone Cold talks to Shane McMahon. Stone Cold suggests that maybe Shane should leave as he may not be safe here for him. Shane appreciates the thoughts but he wants to stay in case something goes down.

We see a recap of the Elimination Chamber match from Summerslam.

Backstage, Triple H talks about Goldberg saying he can't wait to get his hands on him. Triple H then takes a shot at the fans saying they are sheep and believe everything they read in the "magazines". They believe the Goldberg hype. Triple H finishes off his interview by saying that he will end Goldberg's mystique. Goldberg is the disease and he's a cure. Before Triple H can say anything else, Goldberg comes up right beside and a worried Triple H shuts up. Goldberg promises him that he'll win the title.

Trish Stratus & Ivory vs. Gail Kim & Molly Holly

Trish and Ivory enter first, then they cut to a commercial and then as we come back, Gail Kim and Molly Holly are announced. Gail and Ivory start off with Gail hitting a few chops but missing a charge in the corner which allows Ivory to gain the advantage. Molly hits Ivory from behind so Gail re-gains control but throws her to the outside where Molly assaults her while Gail distracts the ref on the inside.
Inside the ring, Gail puts on a backbreaker on Ivory and then tags out to the women's champion but they fail to double team and Ivory almost sneaks out a pinfall. A few minutes later, all choas enuses with all four women in the ring. The ref gets tied up with Ivory so Gail and Molly double team and powerbomb Trish. The ref turns around just as Ivory gets the cover and the 1-2-3.
Winners: Gail Kim & Molly Holly

After the match, Gail and Molly and hit a double DDT on Ivory.

Backstage, Shane McMahon walks into Vince and asks him what he's doing here. Vince says it's his right but frankly, he's concerned about Shane's safety and welfare because he's been told that something's gonna go down tonight. Vince tries to clear the air saying he has tried to be a good father and asks Shane if he'd forgive him. Vince tries to hug Shane but he's stopped and Shane says let's see how concerned you'll be after this...and he heads to the ring.

Shane McMahon comes out and says all night, people have been telling him to be careful because something bad could happen. Shane says if something bad is supposed to happen, let's make it happen right here right now. He stops and looks around and nothing happens except Eric Bischoff's music hitting.

From behind, Kane sneaks up and punches Shane to the outside. There, he hits him with the steel steps and handcuffs him to the ringpost. He then traps Shane by setting up the steps around his feet before pouring a water bottle on him. Kane then goes back under the ring and pulls out some booster cables and a battery. He attacks the cables to Shane's testicles (yes, you read that right) and then hooks it up briefly to the battery as Shane winces in pain.

Kane continues to attach and re-attach the cables to the battery but Rob Van Dam finally comes out for the save. After taking out Kane, he removes the cable from Shane's testicles and then goes back in the ring and hits the Van Terminator on Kane, busting him open.

Non Title Match
La Resistance vs. Hurricane & Rosey

This was a pretty short match. Back and forth action until Rosey gets tossed to the outside. Inside Hurricane tries to slam Sylvain Grenier but Rob Conway comes in and hits Hurricane with the title belt. Grenier covers the injured Hurricane and gets the 1-2-3.
Winners: La Resistance

After the match, Rosey comes in and beats up Conway, but La Resistance overpowers him and then call for the tables. They set it up but the Dudley Boyz come running down and attack La Resistance and toss them to the outside. Bubba and D-Von set up the table and try for the 3-D into it but Conway is pulled out by La Resistance.

Backstage, Terri interviews Maven and asks him about how he's feeling. Maven says he can't believe he's main-eventing tonight. But he also can't help but feel that tonight is his night. Ric Flair and Randy Orton interrupt and say that tonight they will make it his night. They talk some smack and Orton says that tonight the Evolution will pass him by.

Backstage, Shawn Michaels talks to Maven and basically pumps him up by telling him that tonight they will have some fun at the cost of the Evolution.

Backstage, Theodore Long asks Stone Cold why Rodney Mack and Mark Henry aren't in any matches tonight. Austin says he had to add a match, and it just happened that their match got bumped off but it's nothing personal.

As Austin walks away, Rob Van Dam confronts him and says that he wants Kane in a match. Austin books Kane vs. RVD next week inside a steel cage.

Backstage, Stacy complains to Test about being treated like a property. She says Test is a jerk and that she doesn't trust him. Test apologizes and says that they are a team now and they work great together. He points towards the Testicles and says it was her idea and it worked great. Test assures her that they will once again be successful and in fact, he offers that they come out to her music tonight. Stacy kind of shrugs in agreement.

No DQ Intergender Match
Stacy Keibler & Test vs. Steven Richards & Victoria

This is an inter-gender match (anyone can wrestle anyone). Test gains the upperhand on Steven, then tags to Stacy who chops away on Richards as Test holds him. Richards runs over and tags Victoria, who beats up Stacy for a bit, and tags right back out to Richards who tries for a pump handle slam which infuriates Test.
Stacy finally staggers up and tries to tag out to Test but he "slips" off the apron and refuses to accept the tag. The heels double team Stacy and Test comes in to help but gets accidentally slapped by Victoria. An angry Test then beat up Richards so Victoria kicks him in the nuts.
They turn their attention to Stacy again, but Scott Steiner runs down and lays everyone out. This allows Stacy to crawl on top of Victoria for the 1-2-3. After the match, Steiner beats up Richards some more so Test grabs Stacy by the wrist and forces her away leaving Steiner to yell at them from the ring.
Winners: Stacy Keibler & Test

Backstage, we see the Evolution walking down the hall.

Six-Man Tag Match
Evolution vs. Goldberg, Shawn Michaels, & Maven

Orton and Maven start things off but Orton quickly gains the advantage before tagging to Flair who corners Maven works him over. Maven eventually tags in to Shawn but Flair nails him with several chops. Michaels fights back and starts cleaning house and hits a flying high cross body over the top hitting all three Evolution members on the outside.
Match progresses with the Evolution members isolating Michaels and taking advantage with several quick tags. Triple H hooks on an abdominal stretch in the middle of the ring and then looks over and taunts Goldberg who is desperate to get tagged in.
Finally, Michaels does indeed make the hot tag to Goldberg who goes nuts on everyone. He gorilla presses and slams Randy Orton and hits Flair with a devastating Spear. He turns his attention to Triple H and attempts to spear him as well but Orton interferes and Triple H sneaks to the outside. Inside the ring, Goldberg points at Triple H, who is standing on the mat, and picks up Orton for the Jackhammer, all the while keeping his eyes on Triple H. Goldberg then covers Orton and gets the win.
Winners: Goldberg, Shawn Michaels, & Maven

"Goldberg is one step closer to becoming the champ at Unforgiven," shouted J.R. as the show went off the air.
