| WWE RAW Results - 6/30/03 - RVD vs Triple H | ||||||||
| Raw kicked off in Buffalo with the usual recap from last week's show, in which we saw Kane unmask and eventually chokeslam his former tag team partner, Rob Van Dam. Inside the arena, Chris Jericho was already in the ring which was set up for the Highlight Reel. After a few words, Jericho introduced his first guest, Stacy Keibler, who came out along with Scott Steiner. Jericho told Steiner he wasn't invited but Steiner threatened to take Jericho's "jiffy pop suit" and shove it up his ass. Jericho said he wouldn't want to fight Steiner and mess up his set, especially the very expensive JeriTron 5000. Jericho then showed off Stacy's recent pictorial in Stuff Magazine and told Stacy she should get with the Highlight of the Night, a legend in the ring and in the sack. Stacy said the only legend she heard about him was his miniscule schlong. Instead of denying it, Jericho ran with it and yelled at the crowd for laughing. Soon after, Jericho called Test to the Highlight Reel and before Test even got in the ring, Jericho attacked Steiner. However, Steiner quickly recovered and clotheslined Jericho and also Test, once he stepped in the ring. With Jericho and Test backing up the ramp, Eric Bischoff came out and announced that Steve Austin wasn't there, due to some "food poisoning." Bischoff said he had control of the show and promised to make it his defining moment as co-general manager. Bischoff then booked Test and Jericho against Stacy and Steiner. After the break, Lance Storm was in the ring, reading a "prepared statement." Storm said he had looked up the word "boring" in the dictionary, but before he could read his statement, Goldberg interruped him. On his way to the ring, Rodney Mack attacked Goldberg and threw him in the ring. After a whip, Goldberg flew out of the corner and floored Mack with a spear as Storm bailed out of the ring and took off. After some playing to the crowd, Goldberg hit a Jackhammer (which wasn't that well executed) on Mack. Backstage, we saw Kane with a towel over his head and his back to the camera in what looked like a storage room or something. Bischoff apologized for adding the unmasking stipulation to the match but said he'd always heard that Kane didn't need the mask. Bischoff said it wasn't his idea, he said Rob Van Dam was responsible for that. Bischoff suggested that Kane have a match but he shook his head "no". Even after offering Kane a rematch with Triple H, the answer was still no. Bischoff then said he was giving the title match to RVD and said if Kane didn't go out and face the public, he'd be fired. In the arena, Trish Stratus was introduced for an upcoming women's battle royale. After the break, five of the seven competitors were in the ring, (Ivory, Jacqueline, Victoria, Molly Holly and Trish) and then we saw the debut of Gail Kim. Damn, she's hot. Not much of a entrance though or anything. Jazz was introduced next. Gail Kim won the battle royale for the Women's Title in 4:09. Ivory was tossed first and shortly after that, Victoria landed a superkick on Jazz who then rolled over to the side of the ring and was helped to the back, apparently injured. The match came down to Trish, Victoria and Kim, and after Trish was eliminated, Victoria went for a powerbomb but Kim fought it off and held onto the ropes as she dumped Victoria over the top rope. After the break, Booker T made his entrance for his Intercontinental title rematch, but before he stepped in the ring, Christian attacked him from behind. The two fought their way into the crowd and a few other refs came out to break them up and get them in the ring so the match could officially start. Christian defeated Booker T via draw to retain the Intercontinental Title. The bell had rang during the commercial break and when we joined the match, Booker was in control. Actually, this was a very good match, a few more minutes and it would've been PPV caliber. Very well put together. After hitting the ax kick on the apron, Booker went up top but Christian countered and hit a superplex. On the landing, Booker cradled Christian's legs and with both men's shoulders down on the mat, the referee made the three count and awarded the match and title to Booker T. However, Eric Bischoff walked onstage and replayed the finish and said there was no way Booker was winning the title like that. Bischoff said it was a double pin (actually, he said it was a "draw") and said in that case, Christian retains the title. Backstage, Rob Van Dam tried to talk to Kane and told him he didn't need the mask and said the fans would accept him. Kane responded by saying he hated the fans. RVD said he hoped Kane wouldn't hate him tonight when he won the World Championship from Triple H. After RVD walked away, Kane said, "I do hate you, Rob..." Chris Jericho & Test defeated Scott Steiner & Stacy Keibler in 8:44. Ross went crazy in trying to sympathize for Stacy and really tried to push Test as an asshole. Jericho and Test dominated Steiner for most of the match but later on, Steiner rebounded until the two started to double team him. Jericho shoved the ref, who then called for the bell for the DQ but Bischoff came out and said the match wasn't ending that way. He made it a no-DQ match and shortly after that, Jericho plastered Steiner with a chair. Test then forced Stacy to tag in and gave her the pumphandle slam and pinned her for the win. Rico (with Miss Jackie) defeated Maven in 4:46. Rico might pull off the whole flamboyant gay thing a little too well but it can be very entertaining. The crowd was pretty dead and didn't react much to any of Rico's antics. After a little interefence from Jackie, Rico hit a roundhouse kick for the win. Randy Orton (with Ric Flair) defeated Tommy Dreamer in 4:17. Flair got himself involved quite often during the match and Dreamer ended up chasing him with a kendo stick later on. Orton then hit his Diamond Cutter-like finisher which is being called the RKO, for the win. Flair then put Dreamer in the Figure Four while Orton cracked him a couple times with the kendo stick. Backstage, RVD had some words with Bischoff and told him he used Kane's unmasking to get ratings. Bischoff didn't seem to care and told RVD to take out his frustrations on Triple H. After the break, Bischoff told Terri to go get a word from Kane. La Rsistance defeated The Hurricane & Spike Dudley in a non-title match in 3:49. The crowd was pretty dead again and chanted "boring" for a little while. Ross mentioned that Hurricane was searching for a permanent tag team partner. Hurricane hit a few of his signature moves but was tossed out of the ring late in the match which allowed La Rsistance to hit the still nameless double spinebuster finisher on Spike for the win. Backstage, Terri tried to find Kane but he was nowhere to be seen. Triple H defeated Rob Van Dam to retain the World Heavyweight Title in 19:34. RVD dominated early on and as he had Triple H reeling, the show took its last commercial break. After the break, RVD was still in control but that soon changed when Flair came out and got himself involved here and there. Eventually, Triple H took control and worked over RVD's knee and then locked in an Indian Deathlock, followed by a Figure Four. After a few minutes of that, RVD turned it over but Triple H grabbed the ropes to break the hold. RVD started to rebound and hit a few kicks and landed a split-legged moonsault but couldn't get the three count. Late in the match, RVD hit the Fivestar Frog Splash but Flair broke up the count when he hit RVD with the title belt. The ref called for the DQ but Bischoff came out and said there was no way he was letting his World Title main event end like that. He ordered the match to continue as a no-DQ match. The two went to the outside where Triple H grabbed a chair but RVD sprung up and nailed a nice Van Daminator. RVD tried to get Triple H back in the ring but Bischoff told him he didn't have to worry about that because he made the match a no countout's, falls count anywhere match. RVD covered H but Orton came out just in time to break that up. RVD and H worked their way up to the stage where Orton and Flair followed, only to be kicked down by RVD. RVD then countered a Pedigree and hit the Rolling Thunder on the stage but couldn't get the three count. After some more interference by Flair and Orton, RVD turned around into a DDT from Triple H which got him the win. After that, the pyro exploded just a few feet from H, RVD, Orton, Flair, Bischoff and the ref and Kane came out with the towel still on his head. Kane went after RVD but let him go and chokeslammed Bischoff off the stage and through a table. The towel fell off in the process and to end the show, the camera zoomed in on Kane's face.
