Kevin Nash made his way out to start the show and saluted the crowd with a fist in the air and some new pyro. Nash nine months was a long time to be gone but he was glad to be back, but also not so glad to be back. Nash said that Triple H and Shawn Michaels had been at each others throats during his absence and he just wanted to come back and be around his buddies again but instead he's left wondering what's happened.

Triple H made his entrance and the two embraced. H said it was good to see him and said that last week was just a misunderstanding. He said that it'd never be over between him and HBK, and wouldn't ya know it, out comes Shawn Michaels who immediately gets in Triple H's face. Nash intervened and Triple H then said that Nash had to make a choice, him or Michaels. H laid it out straight for Nash, saying that if he ran with him, he'd be one step behind because he said he's the man on Raw and he's calling all the shots. H said that if Nash went with Michaels, then Michaels would do what he's always done and try to steal the spotlight. As Triple H left, he made a good point in saying that his and Nash's careers both got better when they turned their backs on Shawn Michaels.

Backstage, Stacy Keibler decided to go through Test's gym bag and found some lotion, some baby wipes, a towel and Torrie Wilson's Playboy issue to cap it all off. Um, he's banging Stacy Keibler and he needs to yank the crank to Torrie's Playboy? Putz. Anyway, Test storms in and Stacy throws the Playboy at him.

Chris Jericho defeated Test (with Stacy Keibler). Stacy wasn't very supportive during the match, ignoring it for the most part and mingling with fans. Test kept losing his composure when he saw Stacy shaking her ass for the crowd. This led to Jericho getting the upper hand and eventually winning with a Lionsault. After the match, Stacy left Test at ringside who then took out his frustrations on a fan who was looking for an autograph from Stacy.

Backstage, Eric Bischoff was shown and mentioned the emails he'd been getting about Jim Ross' firing. He said he'd do the right thing about it tonight.

After the break, Test and Stacy were still arguing and Test tried to make it up to her by comparing her favorably to Torrie Wilson. Then he got to the boobies and Stacy left.

Victoria (with Steven Richards) & Jazz (with Teddy Long) defeated Trish Stratus & Ivory. Long sat at the announcers table with Lawler and Coachman to play the race card to get Jazz over as a heel. Pretty decent women's match with Jazz getting the win after making Trish tap out.

In the back, Goldust welcomed Goldberg to the arena with a gift, a blond wig much like Goldust's. Goldust put the wig on Goldberg's head who, although appreciated the gesture, took off the wig and warned Goldust never to put the wig on his head again. Goldust then apparently proceeded to soil himself.

After the break, Kevin Nash was shown in the back, thinking about the ultimatum he was met with earlier.

In the arena, Steve Austin's music fired up but yet again, Eric Bischoff was the man coming out to it. He made fun of the crowd for being so gullible and said even though Steve Austin was gone, he wasn't forgotten. Bischoff then offered a special merchandise offer. A crew member came out and showed off Austin's "Alcohol Fueled" and "Bullet Proof" t-shirts which could be bought in a special deal with a WrestleMania XIX program for only $39.95. Bischoff plugged the merch just like a guy on QVC and said that the WrestleMania program was a collectible because it was the last WrestleMania program that Austin would be featured in. Bischoff also threw in a bottle of Jim Ross' barbecque sauce. Booker T then made his way out and asked Bischoff to think about a title match between Booker T and Triple H.

Rob Van Dam & Kane defeated Chief Morely & Lance Storm in a No-DQ match to retain their World Tag Team Titles.
Pretty much the match of the night. Towards the end, RVD and Kane were in control when Bubba Ray Dudley ran in and hit RVD with a BubbaBomb. D-Von Dudley then ran in and got in Bubba's face. Bubba said he was trying to save their jobs when Morely came in with a chair and went for D-Von, however, Bubba pulled the chair away from Morely and held it up in front of the Chief so RVD could nail a Van Daminator. Later on, Kane chokeslammed Storm and held a chair up and Van Dam hit a Van Terminator for the win.

Backstage, Triple H and Ric Flair were talking with Bischoff and were upset he was actually thinking about giving Booker T a title shot. The Hurricane then jumped in the picture and gave some reasons as to why Booker T should be given a title shot. H tried to brush him off but Hurricane came back and said he was fighting for truth and justice, "Biiiaaaaatch!!" Finally, Bischoff made this deal, Hurricane and Booker against Triple H and Flair, should Hurricane and Booker win, then Book would get a title shot next week. H agreed and Flair got in Hurricane's face with his "kiss stealin', wheelin' dealin" speech and when he got the the "jet flyin'" part, Hurricane said some of us don't need jets and "flew" off.

Clips were shown of Bradshaw and Ron Simmons visiting troops (some wounded in the Iraqi Freedom war) in Washington, DC. Simmons and Bradshaw visited Arlington Cemetary and Simmons gave a heartfelt thank you to the troops.

After that, Coach and Lawler did a "via satellite" interview with The Rock. Rock said he'd be on Raw live next week and he'd be putting on The Rock Concert II. Rock then confronted rumors of him being afraid of Goldberg and said he simply had nothing left to prove. Rock finally said that if Goldberg wanted him at Backlash, then he had him at Backlash.

After the break, Christian was shown in the back talking on his cell phone to The Rock. Christian said he was going to seize the day and whoop Goldust's ass tonight. He said that he might also confront Goldberg and couldn't promise he'd leave much for Rock to fight at Backlash.

Goldust defeated Christian via DQ. Christian kicked Goldust in the nads and that was it, the ref DQ'ed him. Goldust made his exit and Christian then got on the mic and called out Goldberg. No music started up but Goldberg made his way out and proceeded to drill Christian with the best spear I've ever seen. Goldberg then hit the Jackhammer and that was that.

"The Great Debate" was next between Christopher Nowinski and Scott Steiner which was moderated by The King. The debate was on Operation Iraqi Freedom and Nowinski went first and said that the US was using its military power to bully smaller nations. Steiner replied and said that terroism had started this war and that America needed to finish it. Steiner said that Nowinski, the Dixie Chick and all them Hollywood numbnuts could all go to hell, or France, the same difference. Nowinski then called for a three minute warning and out came Rosey, Jamal and Rico. Steiner had the upper hand to begin with but eventually got hit by Rosey with a sidewalk slam and then a splash from Jamal.

The Hurricane and Booker T defeated Triple H and Ric Flair. Pretty good match which ended when Shawn Michaels came in and turned the tables so Hurricane could get the pin on Ric Flair. After the match, Michaels and Triple H got into it and eventually Chris Jericho came out and held Michaels back as Triple H threatened to hit him with a sledgehammer, until Kevin Nash came out and broke it up. Nash and Triple H stared each other down and kind of smiled at each other until Nash took the hammer away and backed H into a corner. Booker T then came up from behind and Nash ended up clocking him. These guys are supposed to be a team at Backlash, we're reminded by Coach and Lawler. Michaels then gets in the mix and ends up getting punked by Booker T. Coach said it had to have been a mistake but there was dissention in the ranks.
