WWE RAW Results - 2/2/04 - Shawn Michaels vs Randy Orton
Clips from last weeks RAW are shown, including Chris Benoits surprise appearance.

We start off with Chris Jerichos Highlight Reel as Jericho introduces Chris Benoit. Jericho congratulates Benoit for his Royal Rumble win and the legal loophole he found to jump ship to RAW. Jericho warns Benoit that hes not just dealing with Triple H - hes dealing with the entire Evolution and most importantly, Eric Bischoff. Benoit appreciates the warning, but says that hes well aware of who he has to deal with. Benoit says that the only reason he came to RAW is to be the best and no one will stop him from winning the title at Wrestlemania. If Triple H feels differently, hell have to prove him wrong.

Jericho wonders if the biggest obstacle facing Chris Benoit is perhaps Chris Benoit himself - the fact that he cant win the big one. They show clips from Royal Rumble, where Ric Flair talked about opportunity always escaping Benoit. As Benoit begins to address Flair, Rics music hits and the Nature Boy emerges from the back in a suit.

Flair takes a mic and says that Benoit is the greatest technical wrestler and a physical specimen second to none. But he cant win and thats a problem because this isnt Smackdown!. Triple H is king around here and to be the man, you got to beat the man. Benoit agrees and says that at Wrestlemania 20, hell have the privilege of fighting the man. But right now, he wants to go one-on-one with the one and only Nature Boy. Flair laughs it off and says no which is when Eric Bischoffs music hits and out comes the co-GM at the top of the ramp.

Bischoff says he has something different in mind. Hes not Paul Heyman and he strives to have a healthy relationship with all his talent. With that in mind, he tells Jericho that their #1 contender match is not going to happen; instead theyll face Batista and Ric Flair tonight for the titles. As for Benoit, he tells him to stay in the ring because after the commercial break, his first match since returning to RAW will be next.

Chris Benoit vs. Mark Henry
Benoit tries to use a variety of chops, but Henry sort of overpowers him dictates most of the beginning parts of the match. Benoit hits a shoulder block from the top rope as Triple H makes his way down to ringside. A few seconds later, Benoit hits the Cripper Crossface and gets Henry to tap out. After the match, Benoit and Triple H stare each other down and Triple H mockingly gives Benoit a hand.

Backstage, Stone Cold meets up with Shawn Michaels and asks him why he looks so down. Is it because hes out of the world title picture and Michaels admits thats the reason. Austin says that HBK deserves a rematch but Michaels get angry and says Benoit won the Rumble; hes in, Im out. Austin says that if Shawn wants a title shot, he should do something about it.

They recap the events of the Mick Foley-Randy Orton storyline, including last weeks interview by Foley.

Backstage, Mick Foley is walking when Test confronts him and says he has some nerve showing up here after jumping him during the Royal Rumble. As Foley is talking to Test, Randy Orton sneaks up and clocks him with the Intercontinental title. Orton then tells Foley that Mick is his bitch.

Rene Dupree vs. Rico
Rob Conway goes after Miss Jackie early on so Rico goes out to step in between. This allows, Dupree to nail Rico from behind before the match finally gets underway in the ring. As the match continues to go on, Stacy Keibler just randomly comes out. She steps on the ring apron and lifts her skirt, distracting Dupree and allowing Rico to get the pinfall victory via a roundhouse kick. After the match, Stacy says that she and Jackie are the hottest diva if thats what Playboy is looking for. They then start dancing together.

Backstage, Trish Stratus runs into Christian. Christian talks about the Beatles and how Yoko Ono broke up the group by becoming too close to Paul McCartney. Trish doesnt agree and Christian says that if he were there, he would have beat the crap out of Yoko. Christian leaves and Trish looks worried.

They show some footage of the Smackdown! Your Vote campaign.

Trish Stratus vs. Molly Holly (Womens Title Match)
Before Molly even comes out, Eric Bischoff appears on the big screen and says he prematurely scheduled the match since Trish isnt even the official #1 contender. But he knows that this match meant a lot to Trish so he has another match for her. With that, Kanes music hits and out he comes. Kane stalks Trish, who tries to escape. But he grabs her by the hair and attempts a chokeslam but Chris Jericho runs in for the save. Jericho tells Trish to run away but this allows Kane the opportunity to grab a chair and level Jericho in the knee with it. Kane then picks Jericho up and rams him into the steel post.

Kane doesnt leave as his match with Goldberg is next, so referees tend to Chris Jericho on the outside as we head to commercial.

Backstage, Trish Stratus is with Chris Jericho when Christian comes running in saying hes insane that he wants to play hero on a night when they have a title match. Christian tells Trish to get the hell out of here but Jericho gets angry and tells him to shut up. He tells Christian to just worry about becoming the tag team champions.

Back in the arena, Kane is still awaiting Bill Goldbergs arrival.

Kane vs. Goldberg
Much of the match is a slugfest with punches and rest holds and Kane dominates most of the time. Goldberg finally knocks Kane down with a couple clotheslines but runs into a chokeslam. The lights then go out and a bolt of lightning strikes down in the ring. On the Titan Tron, we see various clips like we saw at the Royal Rumble. This confuses and throws Kane off and when the lights go on, he turns around to run into a spear by Goldberg. Just then, the entire ring fills with smoke causing Goldberg to bail. We hear the Undertaker bell toll and a scared Kane runs away.

Booker T vs. Matt Hardy
Matt controls much of the match and gets several near falls. He works over the neck of Booker T stemming from their Sunday Night Heat match from last week (which they try to sell as happening last night). Matt tries to steal a victory by putting his foot on the ropes but Booker not only kicks out, but the ref sees the illegal activity. Booker T hits the Spinaroonie but misses his Scissors kick so Matt tries for the Twist of Fate which is countered. Booker finally hits the kick and gets the victory.

Backstage, Shawn Michaels is cleaning off his shoe or something. Actually, hes apparently cleaning the blood off it. Randy Orton comes by and says that hell beat him tonight to further cement his status as a legend killer. Shawn Michaels tells him to be careful or it will be his blood on the end of his boot.

Triple H comes out and says that Chris Benoit is now in the big dance and he better be careful what he wishes for because it just might happen. Triple H talks about a contract signing and once that becomes official, it will be Triple H vs. Chris Benoit at Wrestlemania XX. He warns Benoit that when guys get in the ring with him, their dreams become nightmares. He saw what Benoit did to Mark Henry and his shoulder, but lets see how impressive he is next week against someone like Ric Flair. Triple H tells Benoit to watch so he can understand what it means to be the world heavyweight champion. With that, Spike Dudley comes out.

Triple H vs. Spike Dudley
Triple H turns his back on Spike so Spike attacks him to get the early upperhand. Triple H turns things around quickly and basically squashes Spike the rest of the match and hits the Pedigree for the pinfall win.

Backstage, Stone Cold knocks on the door of Goldbergs dressing room. Austin asks him about if hes heard of the comments Brock Lesnar has been making about him. He talks about No Way Out and how Eddie Guerrero is slated to face Brock and he happens to have a front row seat to the event. He tells Goldberg not to do anything he wouldnt do and Goldberg takes the ticket.

Chris Jericho & Christian vs. Ric Flair & Batista
With the referee distracted trying to put Christian out of the ring, Jericho gets Flair to tap but Batista breaks everything up behind the refs back. Flair then turns around and puts the figure four on Jericho, causing him to eventually tap out with Christian still incapacitated.

Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels
Some kid has a sign that says Spit on my face Randy. Riiight, thats always been my lifelong dream too. Orton uses the belt to interfere in the match after the ref gets bumped, so Stone Cold comes out on his ATV with another ref in the back. Austin takes away the title and the second ref gets in the ring. Stone Cold then puts the injured ref in the back and drives away in reverse. The finish sees Mick Foley come out and distract Orton, allowing Shawn Michaels to get the pin.

After the match, Foley and Orton fight all the way into the audience, prompting the Evolution to run out. Batista and Flair go after Orton and Foley while in the ring, Triple H clocks Shawn with the title and beats him up. Chris Benoit then comes out and pulls Triple H off and the two circle around and stare each other down. Triple H leaves and Shawn and Benoit shake hands as the show ends.
