News & Views Column # 9 - 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF
THE ROUND TABLE & WWE News
-  Welcome to a very special edition of the News & Views.  Today marks the 1-year anniversary of The Wrestling Round Table.  One year ago today, I launched this website with a few news and notes, and hardly anything else.  One year later, Ive had more than 4000 visitors and have many different options for wrestling fans.  I have continued to add more information and content to the Table to bring you fans the best and most reliable news and rumors.  Ive also added title histories, which I am still continuing to compile.  The main reason this website has stayed online for this long is simply one reasonYou guys who visit my site.  Without you, I would have already shut it down.  Thank you all!  Ive had a few times where I lost the ambition to continue with the Table, but I came back because I wanted to provide the best visual and informational wrestling website for you fans.  I realize there are thousands of wrestling sites on the net, and many of them have more info than the Table, but I am always trying to improve.  As always, I appreciate any comments you may have on anything about the site or wrestling.  So, if you want to shout at me, just sign the guest book.

Lets get to the News & Views.

-  The current state of the Goldberg/WWE situation does not look good at all.  For those that dont know, Linda McMahon said in a conference call last Friday that Goldbergs impact has been sub-par up to now.  Well, ol Bill didnt hear about her comments until sometime Sunday, and was irate backstage at Bad Blood.  It seems he was throwing a tantrum, and many backstage feared that he would not stay around to wrestle Chris Jericho.  He did stay and wrestle, but one has to wonder how WWE will handle this situation.  Its widely known that Goldbergs temper can get the best of him, and has hurt him in the past.  Anyone remember when he slammed his hand and arm through a limo window in WCW?  Well, now there are rumors floating around that the WWE are regretting signing Goldberg to a contract at all.  There are serious implications that may occur in the coming days and weeks, and I will report on them if anything major happens.

Personally, I like Goldberg in the WWE.  I was a fan back when he started the streak, and through the bad times in WCW.  Now, it seems that the WWE has just tried to repackage him with new (sucky) music and little else.  I dont know whos to blame for thisWWE creative or Goldberg.  But, something should be done to give him a new and fresh appeal.  Add some new moves to his repertoire and give him some better mic skills.  One thing Goldberg has is charisma, but he hasnt cut many promos in the ring where he could shine.  Goldberg looked good last night on RAW as he did use more moves and didnt rely too heavily on the spear and jackhammer.  Only time will tell what will happen.

-  Also, Shawn Michaels was upset that he and Ric Flair were only given 18 minutes for their first big encounter.  WWE.com posted an article late Sunday night after Bad Blood, then later Monday pulled the article.  It seems Shawn wanted more time to showcase this classic match.  Michaels told WWE.com, You had two of the best wrestlers in the world.  We were given 18 minutes to wrestle.  Thats b.s.  This was the one match that I really wanted to see, but something tells me that these 2 will meet again in the near future.

-  I really liked RAW last night.  They showcased more of the younger talent such as Maven, Randy Orton, and newcomer Garrison Cade.  This was a good thing, in that at least Triple H wasnt out there flapping his gums the whole time.  That brings me to Evolution.  This Four Horsemen knockoff group started earlier this year with Trips, Flair, Orton, and Batista.  Then in one night, both Orton and Batista injured themselves and Evolution was scrapped.  Then a couple of weeks ago it was reborn when Orton revealed himself as the masked man that was following Shawn Michaels.  Batista is still injured, so Orton announced they were looking for a forth member.  Kane was approached by Triple H, but refused the invite to gain a World Title Match next week on RAW.  This leads to the stipulation that if Kane loses; he will also have to lose the mask.  I can already predict that he will lose to Trips and unveil his face.  I really liked the segment.  It reminds me of the early days of the Horsemen when they were looking for a new member.  I cant say that Evolution will even come close to being as elite as the Horsemen, but having Flair in Evolution cant hurt.

-  Well, thats all for this week.  Take care and keep checking back here for all your wrestling news.  Thanks for the first year, and hopefully there will be many more.
