| News & Views Column # 8 - WWE Bad Blood Predictions & More | ||||||
| - I have taken an extended period off from writing the News & Views column due to many factors. One, because there hasnt been much news to report. And two, because my fiancs mother was hospitalized for a month and I really havent had time. But, Im back to give my thoughts and predictions on this Sundays Bad Blood PPV and other general topics. Classy Freddie Blassie - I was very sad to hear of this legends passing. Im 26 years old, and have been a wrestling fan since 1984, so I only remember Blassie as a manager back in those days. I do remember hating him and The Iron Sheik, cause I was a Hulkamaniac back in the day. But, Blassie wanted to be hatedhe thrived from the heat. HE was the ultimate heel in professional wrestling. After watching WWE Confidential this past Saturday, I learned even more about this great man. He was stabbed and attacked by fans 21 times. Which just adds more evidence that this man had charisma like no one else. Fans have not stabbed even the mega heel of today, Triple H. I definitely want to read his autobiography, so that I can appreciate more of who Classy Freddie Blassie was. I know that I will miss him, as he was one of the last guys left from an era gone by. God Bless You Fred Blassie. WWE Bad Blood Predictions - This is the very first RAW-only PPV under the hard-split. At first, I didnt believe this could be pulled off, considering this years lackluster PPVs. But, on paper the card has shaped up quite a bit. I still havent decided whether to purchase it, fearing that the HIAC match is only candy-coated with Foley. Lets get to the predictions. The Dudley Boyz vs Rodney Mack & Chris Nowinski - This match just doesnt have the feel of a PPV match. It should be on Sunday Night Heat instead. There has been some build, but Nowinski just started backing the Mack this past Sunday on Heat. I dont have much interest in this one, unless Theodore Long gets a 3-D through a table. Winners: Dudleyz World Tag Team Title Match RVD & Kane [C] vs Las Resistance - Good build so far, but too predictable. Kanes new found lack of fire will cost he and RVD the match and the straps. I dont feel La Resistance has enough experience to be given the belts. Since Kane will be doing something solo in the near future, they will lose. I hope that this will set up something big for Kane and RVD in their solo careers. Winners & New Champs: La Resistance Scott Steiner vs Test (Winner gets Stacy) - This one has been building for quite some time now, and it was inevitable Stacy would come between these 2. While Steiner has been looking better in his matches, I dont see that being a factor for him to be pushed in this match. Test has added that psycho, jealous, ex-boyfriend appeal to his character now. I see him winning to set up the storyline with Stacy being his whore. Hopefully, this match will be short so we can get more from the good matches. Winner: Test Ric Flair vs Shawn Michaels - One word can sum this one up: CLASSIC. This should be a great match, as both these guys have more go in them than most of the talent in whole WWE. After Ric got his ass handed to him this past RAW, I can see him winning. A win for Flair, may start a Flair For The Gold one more time. Trips will probably come down to interfere, which will only hurt Flair even if he wins. Match Of The Night Winner: The Nature Boy Ric Flair WWE Intercontinental Title Match Christian [C] vs Booker T - I cannot wait for this one. Id love to see Booker T finally get some gold. But, Christian is just so damn good as a heel, that I like him as Champ. Just because Houston is Booker Ts hometown, doesnt mean hell win the strap. Id love to see this feud continue with a Ladder Match on RAW sometime soon. Booker T will get his gold, but not yet. Winner: Christian Chris Jericho vs Goldberg - Well, this one could be good or bad. It really depends on Bills attitude on Sunday. This feud started in 1998 after Goldberg had become huge, and Jericho was still being held back by WCW. Then just after Goldberg made his debut in WWE, he and Jericho got into an altercation backstage.where Jericho got the better of ol Bill. Now, Goldberg is upset that he is looking too weak against Jericho. This can only mean one thing: Goldberg will squash Jericho this Sunday. I doubt ol Bill will have it any other way. Hopefully, Bill will sell more of Jerichos moves to give the idea of a great match. Winner: Goldberg World Heavyweight Championship Match Hell In A Cell with Mick Foley as Referee Triple H [C] vs Kevin Nash - The only reason I want to see this one is simply: FOLEY! Thats it. I dont know how this one will be done, but expect a couple of big bumps to try and conceal the bad wrestling. Maybe Foley can extract some revenge on Trips in that cell. On a side notewatching the WWA The Reckoning PPV last Sunday, I saw a sign in the crowd that said RAW SPOILER: HHH WINS!. That says it all. Winner: Triple H - I mentioned that I watched the WWA The Reckoning PPV this past Sunday. I got it because Bret Hart made his first public wrestling appearance since his stroke last year. It was quite amazing to see the Hitman walk down the aisle and into the ring. He talked about his stroke and his recovery, and how he gets letters and emails from all over the world from his fans. He appreciates all the loyal support and prayers of his fans. He also talks about the recent losses of Curt Hennig, The British Bulldog, and Owen Hart. And he mentions how Owen would be happy for Brets progress and decision to address the fans. I have always been a fan of Bret Hart, and seeing him in a wrestling ring one more time was just incredible. Random Thoughts & Rhetorical Questions: - Is anyone else tired of seeing the same old matches in the womens division on RAW and SmackDown? - Three words: Angle Is Back! - Which is worst? Triple H wins this Sunday and keeps the title for 2 more months, or a lack luster Kevin Nash wins and hobbles to the ring every week till he gives the strap back the Trips. - Maybe, just maybe The Nature Boy will style and profile one more time with Big Gold. - Thats all for now.until later, thanks for reading and keep on checking back for your WWE news and rumors.
