News & Views Column # 7 - WWE Backlash Predictions
-  Welcome back to the newest News & Views column.  Sorry for the lack of updates over the last couple of weeks.  I am in the process of finding a new job, and that is a job in itself.  But, I wanted to get a column in before Backlash this Sunday to vent some Triple H issues.  So, here goes nothing...

Triple H Is A Pussy!!

This past Monday's RAW (4/21) was the 2nd installment of the screwing of Booker T.  Part 1 was Wrestlemania XIX.  Well, in this somewhat updated version, we see the "Kliq" get involved towards the end, which shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone.  The first strike against Booker T is just being in the ring with Triple H with the title on the line.  The second would be having Shawn Michaels as the guest referee.  And enter strike number 3 as Kevin Nash enters the match.  Wow, all three members of the Kliq in the ring together...although, not all of them appear against Booker T.  Or so it would seem.   You see, these 3 are all good friends in real life, so no matter what the storyline suggests, I have to believe that Booker T just got buried one more time...and sadly maybe for the last time.   The Kliq will help themselves and each other to look good on camera at any cost.  So. even though Nash & Michaels are teaming with Booker T this Sunday, they were both looking out for their good buddy and Vince McMahon's personal savior, Triple H.  I can only predict that Trips and Nash will swap the belt back and forth this summer.  Here's my question, will Nash get tired of being Triple H's bitch??

Backlash Predictions

Sean O'Haire vs Rikishi
This one only interests me because of O'Haire.  I really like his alignment with Piper.  I think his character is great, and  he could really take off as a heel.  This kid has potential and can finally show his stuff on PPV.  Piper will interfere helping O'Haire to the victory.

Big Show vs Rey Mysterio
The size difference really makes this one look ugly, but I think Rey will make it fun.  I just don't see how Rey can actually pin Big Show and make it look legit.  Winner with a chokeslam, Big SHow.

WWE Tag Team Titles Match:
Team Angle (C) vs Los Guerreros

This one has the potential of grabbing match of the night.  Team Angle is really strong right now and I see them working well together even without Kurt by their side.  I don't think that will play a part in this one.  Los Guerreros are also a solid team and they should come out on top.  Winners and new champs: Los Guerreros.

World Tag Team Titles Match:
Rob Van Dam & Kane (C) vs The Dudley Boyz

After what transpired on RAW with the Dudleys, I see them going into the match together and on the same page, but falling apart somwhere along the way.  This could possibly set up another break up of the Duds.  RVD and Kane just don't gel as a tag team in my eyes, and I see them losing to the Duds.  Winners and new champs: The Dudley Boyz.

WWE Women's Title Match:
Trish Stratus (C) vs Jazz
I'm just not fired up for this one.  Maybe it's because we've seen this match before, and Jazz just doesn't have any finesse.  Jazz will win with possible help from Victoria setting up the Bitch vs Psycho match on a later PPV.  Winner and new champ:  Jazz.

Booker T, Shawn Micahels, & Kevin Nash (2/3rds Kliq) vs Ric Flair, Chris Jericho, & Triple H (1/3rd Kliq)
This seems more like a main-eventer on RAW instead of a PPV semi-main event.  But, this one could have some good action between Booker/Shawn and Flair/Jericho.  If you leave out Triple H altogether, and only let Nash do a powerbomb or 2, then this match is tolerable.  Look for the setup of this summer's HHH/Nash feud.  I hope Y2J will turn on Trips in this one.   Winners: Booker, Michaels, & Nash.

The Rock vs Goldberg

As much as I'm looking forward to seeing Goldberg back in the ring, I am not looking forward to this being Rocky's last match this year.  The Rock has proved that he still has it, and is only getting better as an entertainer and a wrestler.  I will hate to see him go back to Hollyweird.  This match is going to be big if Goldberg can keep up with The Rock.  Goldberg hasn't been in the ring on a regular basis in 2 years, so the ring rust is going to be there.  Rock could make him look like he did  in 1998.  Winner: Goldberg.

WWE Title Match:
Brock Lesnar (C) vs John Cena

What a cool match!  I really like the WWE's decision of letting 2 young guys fight it out over the title.  Their new love for what's old is new again doesn't apply to this one, and that's great news for us fans.  The build for this one has been good, especially with the tournament.  Even though I knew Cena would win the tourney, it was cool to see Benoit get close once  more.  Cena will fight a good match, but Lesnar will edge him with an F5.  Winner: Brock Lesnar.

-  I am still not 100% convinced to buy the Backlash this Sunday.  But, with Rock/Goldberg, Lesnar/Cena, and Team Angle/Los  Guerreros, it may deliver after all.  Stay tuned to the Round Table for the full results of Backlash.  Take care and thanks  for reading,
