| News & Views # 12 - Ric Flair DVD Collection Review & Armageddon Predictions | |||||
| Welcome to a new edition of the News & Views. I hope you all are enjoying the holidays as I am. I cannot believe this year is almost over. I am in the process of adding more pages to the Round Table, including a bio on my favorite wrestler of all time Ric Flair. Also, I will be adding some WWE Divas pages with some photos I have scanned. So, look for these soon, hopefully this coming weekend. Lets get to it. - The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection DVD Review I was one of the lucky few that picked up this amazing DVD set the day it was released (Nov 18). I have been waiting on something like this for quite some time. And finally it is here. If you have not yet seen this 3 DVD set, then please do yourself a favor and buy it. It does not matter if you dont like Flair that much, because this set gives you a great history lesson in wrestling. I have been watching Flair since the early 1980s, and the footage on this set includes all the moments I can remember plus more that I had never seen. The first disc focuses on Flairs early days, including his feud with Harley Race and their epic battle at Starrcade 83. Along with this you get to see Flair battle Dusty Rhodes as well as Barry Windham. Promos are shown throughout the disc and Flair gives a current day view on each battle before that chapter begins. The second disc covers the mid to late 80s with Flairs battles against Ricky The Dragon Steamboat and Terry Funk. Plus 2 behind the scenes looks at The Four Horsemen and information from Flair and others about the 1975 plane crash that almost ended his career. Finally, the third disc includes his monumental battles with Sting, his debut in the WWF (1991) and his celebration in Greenville, SC from May of this year (I was in attendance for that, CLICK HERE for more). All in all this set just blew me away. I have watched this set once already and am watching it again. The WWE outdid themselves and got it right by using some old NWA and WWF footage in this amazing set. RATING: A ++ - WWE RAW Thoughts I didnt see it coming. First, we get the king of hardcore, now the most electrifying man in entertainment. Wow. Mick Foleys return last week to RAW stunned me. I am pleasantly surprised to see him back and in charge. I just hope that he will hang around longer than the month he stayed for back earlier this year. I dont think The Rock will be back for good as of yet though. I really had no idea that he would show up. My concern was whether Triple H would be there, and thank God that he wasnt. I really have enjoyed RAW the last few months. Even without Austin on the program, it has been entertaining. I like what they have done with the young talent, like Mark Jindrak & Garrison Cade. These two look great in the ring, and with some time and matches under their belt, they will excel. I liked the way they were taking the Jericho/Trish & Christian/Lita story until last night when they signed that match for Armageddon. I think there should be a Womens title match and something more interesting with Booker T than his match with Mezark Henryhaha. I am definitely not watching Armageddon this Sunday because there just doesnt seem to be anything great on the card. I will offer my brief predictions though. - WWE Armageddon Predictions World Tag Team Titles Tag Team Turmoil - The Dudley Boyz (C) vs Test/Steiner vs Cade/Jindrak vs Hurricane/Rosey vs La Resistance vs Venis/Storm Predicted Winners: Test/Steiner - Booker T vs Mark Henry Predicted Winner: Booker T Battle Of The Sexes Match -Chris Jericho & Christian vs Trish Stratus & Lita Predicted Winners: Trish & Lita - Shawn Michaels vs Batista Predicted Winner: Batista WWE Intercontinental Championship Special Referee Mick Foley - Rob Van Dam (C) vs Randy Orton Predicted Winner: Randy Orton World Heavyweight Championship Triple Threat Match - Goldberg (C) vs Kane vs Triple H Predicted Winner: Triple H Written by "The Samster" of The Wrestling Round Table - December 9, 2003 |
