| WWE News & Notes - 11/24/03 - RAW Error Last Night, Flair's Injury, Stevie Richards | ||||
| Reported by Ben Johnson - In what was actually quite comical, WWE made a big error during the title match last night. Upon Randy Orton's run-in, the ref called for the bell, disqualifying Triple H. Yet, moments later, Triple H pedigreed Goldberg, and the ref actually counted. This made sense, as there should not have been a count in this situation. The original bell was not supposed to be called at that point, but Jim Ross had no choice but to call things as he saw them. Thus, he commented that had the bell not gone off, Goldberg would not have kicked out of the pinfall. Yet, the bell had no apparent impact, as Triple H was still able to pin Goldberg - which made absolutely no sense. - Thanks to ProWrestling.com reader Chris Bounds for pointing out the following information on Ric Flair's accidental injury during RAW: "It appears in the main event last night that when HBK threw Flair into the ropes his footing was off as he slipped and hit his face on the top rope.That of course would be the reason for him bleeding during the match.I don't believe that he was intended to bleed during that match as it looked to be purely accidental." Thanks to Michael Ruff for sending this in: - A note on Stevie Richards from Raw last night. When Heidenreich dropped him, he didn't really get him extended, and Stevie landed on his neck, rather than back. The ref immediately put up the X sign to the back and went to a quick finish. Trainer and Doctor came out, and were checking Stevie for a neck injury, including checking his ability to grip things with his hands. A stretcher (Real medics) came down, but, eventually they fitted Stevie with a Cervical Collar and helped him walk up the ramp....obviously upset and in pain. - A couple other notes. They used different pryo for Shawn Michaels than they usually do, and it just about smoked us out of the arena. We couldn't see about 1/2 of the main event as the smoke was too thick. The fight in the stands was right behind me at the time as well...some guy and girl trying to go at it. They were being detained by police when we left. - When Flair got caught up in the ropes, the crack of his nose was audible throughout the arena. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he really did break his nose. Credit: WrestlingAttitude.com. |
