WWE News & Notes - 8/5/03 - Elimination Chamber, Gail Kim's Heel Turn, Spike TV, Kane/Shane McMahon Heat Backstage
-  In case you're wondering why WWE changed the HHH/Goldberg and rumored HBK/Orton matches to a big Elimination Chamber match (with Jericho and Nash also in it), it goes like this.

Triple H has expressed a lack of confidence about wrestling Goldberg. In fact, some sources have said that he wanted to practice as often as he could and do whatever it took to avoid being "embarrassed" in the match. Plus, with his injury, that basically put the lock on Triple H not being one hundred percent for the match.

Thus, the match was changed to cover up the weaknesses the two could have in a single's bout. No word on who's set to win the title in the new match

-  Word has it that the reason WWE turned Gail Kim against Trish on RAW is that the creative team was baffled that she didn't get over too well in her initial face run, so tried to give her a more interesting program.

-  Spike TV has informed us that there is a "special Spike TV surprise" planned during RAW next week. We don't have any details on what it is, but it's obviously to get over Spike TV. Spike launches a whole two months after originally planned, when it kicks off next Monday.

The following news comes from the Torch Newsletter:

-  With the way things in the Kane/unmasking angle have played out so far, with Kane tearing many superstars apart (most notably RVD) - only to move onto a match with Shane McMahon, various sources are sticking behind a feeling that Vince might have booked the Kane angle as a mere bridge to bring Shane McMahon back onto WWE TV.

Although that's not likely the only reason and WWE did want to turn Kane back into a money player, many backstage are generally unhappy that the McMahons are now completely dominating TV and that one of the only money angles that didn't really involve a McMahon (aside from the attack on Linda), is now being used to bring Shane back into the spotlight.
