| WWE News & Notes - 6/21/03 - Lesnar In Boating Accident + Funk On RAW? + Goldberg + TNN/Spike TV | |||||
| - Apparently, Brock Lesnar was with some friends in San Antonio, Texas this week because he was due to visit a doctor to find out the extent of his injured rib. He was out on the water with some friends in a boat, and fell out, hitting his leg on the propeller on the way down which caused a three inch long, inch deep gash in his leg. Lesnar was taken for medical attention and needed several stitches to close the laceration. Today, Lesnar's knee swelled up quite a bit. It's not known at this point whether or not he'll be able to compete in Madison Square Garden next Tuesday for the SmackDown! tapings. It should be noted, that Lesnar even refused pain medication for the deep gash. - There is a rumor that Terry Funk may be a part of RAW this Monday night. The rumour stems from Foley's comments on Byte This! yesterday. Foley told Dreamer that WWE are planning to do something special for him on RAW, and that it would involve Dreamer and possibly Terry Funk himself. - To update this story, there was some talk of having Terry Funk on RAW this coming Monday from MSG. The plan was for some sort of Hardcore legend to Hardcore legend deal with Foley and Funk. Funk is already going to be in Philadelphia on Saturday night working the 3PW show. As it stands right now, Funk has not agreed to it simply because WWE has not been able to contact him. - Goldberg is expected to undergo a slight gimmick change. Many are in agreement that WWE botched Goldberg's initial run thus far in the company by trying to recreate his character. Jim Ross has recently gone on record saying Goldberg will do a lot less talking, and a lot more wrestling. As far as Goldberg's matches are concerned, "JR" said we will see the old "animal-like" Bill Goldberg from this point on. - The Associated Press reported today that a New York State Appeals court refused Viacom to change the name of TNN to Spike TV until the case with Spike Lee is settled. Spike got an injunction to prevent the name change, because he felt Viacom was trying to market Spike TV off of his image and reputation. The name change was scheduled for this Monday, although the lower court agreed and the name change has been put to a halt. The judges on the appellate court refused to void the lower courts decision and scheduled a new hearing before a full appellate bench on the first week of September. It looks like now TNN will remain the same for the summer. Credit: WrestlingAttitude.com |
