| WWE News & Notes - 3/27/04 - Information On Steve Austin's Domestic Disturbance With His Girlfriend | ||||
| - To update reports found on some wrestling websites tonight, Steve Austin was NOT arrested despite the previous stories stating otherwise. It appears some miscommunication took place involving the original source (KSAN channel 12 in San Antonio, Texas) and what was reported on the internet by numerous wrestling websites. Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com spoke with KSAN in San Antonio earlier tonight and was told the that although no arrest took place, the story concerning a domestic disturbance taking place between Austin and girlfriend Tess Broussard was indeed true. The overall story that is being reported by KSAN is as follows. Police were called to Austin's home in Dominion, an upscale area in San Antonio, on Thursday night. The police report stated that both Austin and Broussard, who were in the process of separating, began talking when Austin became quote "irritable." Broussard stated that she was pushed down and ended up landing on her hands and knees. She informed officers at the scene and reportedly feared for her safety. Broussard also informed officers that she had taken pictures for evidence and planned on pressing charges against Austin. Despite this incident taking place, SSA Entertainment issued a press release stating that Austin would be in Secaucus, New Jersey tomorrow for his scheduled autograph session. For those who remember, Austin was arrested in August of 2002 on assault charges due to an incident taking place in June of that year with ex-wife Debra Williams. Austin pleaded no contest to the charges in November of 2002 and was given a $1,000 fine, one year's probation and was forced to perform 80 hours of community service and undergo domestic violence counseling.
