In the summer of 1986 we took two vacations. They each lasted a
few days. Our first vacation was to east Tennessee, and our second trip was to Cincinnati, Ohio.
On our east Tennessee excursion we visited Gatlinburg, Knoxville
and Chattanooga. We also entered the Smokey Mountains and went to the edge of North Carolina.
We took a little collie puppy with us on this trip.
We crammed a whole lot into this trip. I believe we first went
to Chattanooga. There we went to famous Lookout Mountain and Rock City. We then traveled
north to Knoxville. We went to the zoo and left the puppy in the back of the truck. When we
left the zoo we found the police searching our truck. They asked mom a few questions about
leaving him in that hot truck for hours with only a bowl of water. We were quite embarrased.
From there we went to the Lost Sea in Sweetwater. It's an underground cave with a lake.
Our next stop was Gatlinburg. We went shopping, visited a Ripley's
Believe It or Not Museum and went to a haunted house, where a ghost told us where to go when we
got lost. We continued east through the Smokies to the town of Cherokee, North Carolina.
Our second trip that summer was a short stay in Cincinnati. We
visited a great zoo and went to a baseball game. The Mets beat the Reds in a nationally
televised game 4-2.
