Orlando Or Bust! That could
have been the theme of the '90 vacation. It is the number one destination of vacationing families
every summer. Naturally, we had to give it a try. The main attractions are two giant theme
parks. They are Walt Disney World and
Universal Studios Florida.
We did both, and I don't know how we afforded it.
I don't remember a lot about Disney World. I remember the park was
divided into different areas of the world. There was also the Epcot Center. It's the familiar
building shaped like a giant golf ball. We also went to a drawing studio and learned how all
those movies were made. The park was packed with people and we didn't leave until it closed at
midnight.
Universal Studios was a little more memorable. It had some amazing rides and
shows. One of my personal favorites was Kongfrontation. The premise is an elevated subway in
NYC that is attacked by King Kong. We got a taste of virtual reality on the Back to the Future
and Starwars rides. The worst ride was E.T. The ride was broke and we had to wait for it.
It was a ripoff.
They also had great shows. There was a reenactment of
Ghostbusters and a spectacular Indiana Jones stunt show with fiery
explosions and pitfalls. We also saw exhibits featuring Alfred Hitchcock
and animal actors. There was a miniature Hollywood Walk of Fame too!
Sure, it was hot and overcrowded, but well worth it.
