Universal Fulfillment

The namaz

A thought just hit me. Millions of people around the globe regardless of what culture, of what nationality, of what society bow down, prostrate, humbling themselves wording the namaz in exactly the same words. In exactly the same words. In the universal spiritual language of Arabic. The unity of the Muslims seen even in the prayers. I sit here in Pakistan... another Muslim facing the same kabah sits in China...in the same way in England bows another brother...in Afghanistan another muslim searches for peace as she presses her forehead to the sand...in America someone cups her hand in the same desperation as one does in a desert beside a pool of water...in Malaysia a muslim utters a heartfelt Aamen. These are my brothers and sisters recognized by the marks of the namaz on their faces. Peace...hope and a fulfilment shines as a reflection from within their eyes. No other institution can provide such contentment. Such a universal unifying force. Arabs.... Indians...Pakistanis...Americans...Chinese.... Malaysians....French...Africans you name it perform their namaz in the same manner in the same language in the same heartfelt manner.
These are the Muslims at one with their Rabb. The Rabb of the two easts and the Rabb of the two wests east, west, north and south. This is our Lord. The same one who knows how utterly desperate we are to have a link with Him. How much we actually need to remind ourselves how Great He is. And how totally He listens to every syllable I utter.

That is His power...that is how precious we are to Him.
That is the namaz.
That is all we have in this life.
The only rope we can hang on to.
The only reassurance we have.
A.B.
