Kumamoto City is small city in Kyushu island South of Japan. It is a city rich in tradition and culture. It is located on the Kumamoto Plain which spreads from the outskirts of Mt.Aso ( home to the largest caldera in the word ) to the Ariake Sea. Kumamoto has an inland basin climate and temperature changes can be drastic. The average annual temperature is 17.4C and the average annual precipitation is 1,543mm. Winters are mild and snow is rare. June marks the beginning of the rainy season and summers are very hot and humid.

There are small number of muslims in Kumamoto compared with other prefectures. Most of us are students
( Monbukagakusho scholarships program ) from Egypt, Morroco, Tunisia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey, Malaysia and Indonesia. Muslim Society in Kumamoto . Key points from Prophet Muhammad's farewell Speech.
After the performance of his hajj, in 634 AD, he delivered his farewell speech at Arafat before about 120.000 of his followers. After prasing and thanking God the prophet said: " O people, listen to my words carefully, for I know not whether I would meet you again on such an occasion.
* O people just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Remember that you will indeed appear before God and answer for your actions. Hurt no one, so that no one may hurt you.
* Return the things kept with you as a trust of their rightful owners. All dues of interest shall stand cancelled. God has forbidden interest.
* O people, your spouses have certain rights over you, and you have certain rights over them. Treat them well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers.
* Beware of Stan, he is desperate to divert you from the worship of God.
* O people, listen carefully! All the belivers are brothers. Do not take things from someone unless he gives it to you willingly.
* O people, none is higher that the other unless he is higher in obedience to God. There is no superiority for an Arab over non-Arab and for non-Arab over an Arab, nor for the white over the black nor for the black over the white except in God-conciousness.
* O people reflect on my words. I leave behind me two things: the Quran and, my example, if you follow these, you will not be misguided.
* Listen, to me carefully! Worship God and offer prayer, observe fasting in the month of Ramadhan, and pay poor due.
* O people, be mindful of those who work under you. Feed and clothe them as you feed and clothe yourselves.
* O people, no prophet or messanger will come after me and no new true faith will emerge.
* All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others, and those to others again.
He then faced the heavens and asked," Have I conveyed the message of God to you, O people? " The audience answered in one voice," Yes, you have; God is the witness."
As the prophet finished, the following revelation came down to him:
" Today I have perfected My favour upon you and have chosen for you Islam as the way of your life." ( Quran 5:3 ) |
