The September 25 meeting of the Muskingum College Republicans came to order at 8:00 p.m.. In old business, Renee Morrow spoke about the Student Senate Budget Allocations Meeting, it went well and we expect to get our request. Levi Shegog reported on the Shultz Mansion Fund-raiser with Nancy Hollister. Amy Tarquini reported that Muskingum CRs helped pass out literature for Congressman Ney at the Barnesville Parade.
Committee Reports included Voter Registration Sign-up. Local Campaigns, there will be a sign blitz on October 8th from 1-3. Recruitment, Jim Hockaday proposed a voter registration drive at John Glenn High School. Troy Walton reviewed complications in the Oliver North fund-raiser.
Under new business, Troy will be going to Ohio University-Zanesville to recruit Bush/Cheney students and had a meeting with Dan Richey, the local Bush/Cheney chair about a sign blitz and literature drop. The Ohio University College Republicans meeting is Wednesday at 9:00 p.m.. Muskingum CRs have been invited to MTV’s Rock the Vote campaign in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The group leaves at 9:30 am on September 26th. The next meeting will feature Creighton Cox of Citizens for a Strong Economy. Starr Parker will be speaking at Wittenberg on October 3, at 8:00 p.m.. The Young Republicans and County Republicans meeting is on Wednesday October, 4. October 7, is Super Saturday, 11:00 is the opening of the Republican booth at the Mall, followed by a lit drop for Congressman Ney.
Guest Speaker and County Commissioner, Dorothy Montgomery, spoke to the group about voting, Homecoming, the Hog Roast, leadership, and internship. She offered several ideas for activities such as elephant ears in the BOC and T-shirts. Walter "Bud" Chess, candidate for judge spoke briefly about candidate biographies and voting in Muskingum County. The next meeting will be October 2, 2000 at 8:00 p.m. in Cambridge Hall Room 139.
