The October 2 meeting of the Muskingum College Republicans was called to order by Troy Walton at 8:00 p.m.. Troy reported on his activities at OU-Z and his meeting with Dan Riche. He announced there would be an upcoming fund-raiser for Jim Aslanides. Jim Hockaday reported Tim Sparks, past Muskingum CR Chairman would be attending an upcoming meeting.
Committee Reports: Megan Payne reported that Voter Registration was going extremely well and underway. Levi Shegog reported on Local Campaigns, There are events on October 7, and 8th. Shane Lightle, with Congressman Bob Ney’s campaign informed the group of upcoming literature drops for Congressman Ney. Jim reported that there are plans for recruitment at John Glenn and Zanesville High School. Renee Morrow is sending out a press release for Nancy Hollisters speech, included are the pictures with Secretary Cheney. Kelly Garbo, State Assistant Director for Students for Bush/Cheney spoke of the importance of the election and getting the vote out.
State Chairman, Pete Lupiba addressed the group with the message of recruitment. He invited CRs to DeWine and Cheese on October 20, at the O.R.P. and to the State Board meeting on October 15th.
Under new business, Troy announced the debate social sponsored by the County Republicans on October 3. Meet in Cambridge Hall parking lot at 8:15. There are Young Republican and County Republican meetings on October 4. Meet in the Cambridge Hall parking lot at 6:30. Super Saturday was discussed once again. Be at the mall at 11:00 am.
Special Guest Speaker, Creighton Cox, spoke about Citizens for a Sound Economy. He talked about tort reform, the importance of electing Judges O’Donnell and Cook, and signed up interested students for the organization.
The meeting was followed by a social at Troy’s house. The next meeting will be on October 9, at 8:00 p.m. in Cambridge Hall room 139.
