Muskingum College Republicans

Meeting: September 11, 2000

The September 11 meeting of Muskingum College Republicans came to order at 8:00 p.m.. Troy and Jim introduced our two guest speakers, Dan Vincent and Bill Houston. Dan gave an informative speech on the Young Republicans organization and several ideas that we could implement here on campus. Bill spoke about the difference between Republicans and Democrats and stressed a great deal on the problems with the agriculture industry today. They both gave several dates for upcoming events on the county level. October 7, 2000 is Super Saturday with an event at the County Fairgrounds and on Election Night there will be a reception at the Elks Club.

Troy then covered the results of our membership drive at the Activities Fair. Mike Nelson gave a report for the group that attended the County Republican Meeting. Troy spoke about his trip to the Ashbrook Center. A voter registration drive was discussed and Megan Payne was appointed chair of the committee. Levi Shegog will chair the committee that is helping local candidates. Renee Morrow discussed plans for the letterhead and showed a rough, black and white copy. Megan Payne informed everyone the website would be complete by the end of the week. http://www.geocities.com/muskiecr/ Anyone wishing to maintenance the website weekly needs to contact Megan or Troy.

The issue of officers was discussed. It was decided that Troy would appoint the Executive Council and elections would be held in the Spring for next academic year. Upcoming Events: State Board at Bowling Green is this weekend. Those wishing to go need to get in contact with Troy. Post Meeting Note: Meeting time is 1:30 outside Cambridge Hall.

Troy made a "Big Announcement". Oliver North is possibly our fund-raiser speaker. The meeting was followed by pizza and soft drinks. The next meeting is Monday September 18, 2000 at 8:00 p.m. in Cambridge 139.
