Muskingum College Republicans

Meeting: January 29, 2001

8:00 p.m.

The January 29 meeting of the Muskingum College Republicans was called to order by Chairman Troy Walton at 8:00. Officer reports were given. Vice-Chairman Jim Hockaday went over final plans for the Country Club portion of the Lincoln-Reagan event. Treasurer Renee Morrow discussed upcoming budget allocations. Secretary Megan Payne went over final plans for the Shultz Mansion portion of the event.

Old business included the background of the Oliver North event for new members and complete details of the Shultz and Country Club. Troy explained the Honorary Muskingum College Republicans and the group voted to make an announcement on the Kessler Scholarship Fund. Renee and State Chairman Pete LuPiba discussed plans for CPAC and State Convention, which will be held April 6-8 at Xavier University.

Under new business, elections were discussed. Candidates will run on an individual, not ticket, basis and elections will be held the second week in March. Our guest speaker was Larry Mary, of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority. He was thankful for the effort given in the fall elections and was impressed with the Oliver North event. He discussed working with a democratic mayor and the importance of voting.

The next meeting will be held on February 5, 2001 in Cambridge Hall room 139 at 8:00 p.m..
