New Business:
50/50� the Booster Club board was approached by the Muskegon Hts. Optimist Club this summer. They asked if the Booster Club will help with a 50/50 during the home games. The board agreed to help sell tickets, but the Booster Club will not run, distribute money or be responsible for any part of the 50/50.
Silver Sticks Golf Outing� will be held Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the Stone Gate golf course. The golf course offered to the provide the steak meal (steak, potato salad, and garlic bread) for $12.00 per golfer and helper, but after lots of discussion the members at the meeting decided the Booster Club will continue to provide the food and hopefully save some money. Hopefully the Fury office will be able to provide and help with setting up chairs and tables. Please contact Marge Kerkstra if you would like to help.
Toronto trip� only have 5 members at present. (The 5 of us did travel to Toronto on Friday, September 21 and returned Sunday, September 23. We had a great time and wished more could have joined us. The Hockey Hall of Fame was great. Still did not have Robin�s record display� the display looked the same as when I was there quite a few years ago. We were impressed with how clean Toronto is and everyone we meet was friendly. If you go take the double-decker bus tour, it was great. Big news was Evelyn won at the slots, the rest of us, well- we lost.)
Warm-up suits for the team� The board approved purchase of the suits gain this year. The suits will have a patch on the shoulders indicating our donation.
Warm-up suits for club� Scott Feasby again this year offered suits provided by a company he works for. The company was called �FURY� but they have been purchased by the Croc company. Suits will cost about $55.00 The company also has �Croc pins� for sale. Contact Marge Kerkstra or stop by the table for more information.
Recipe Book� the Booster club is going to try to put together a recipe book featuring recipes by members and Fury players and their families. In order to have the books ready by Thanksgiving for Christmas presents, everyone needs to turn in their favorite recipes by October 31st to be included. Look through your recipes and pick out your favorites - soups, breads, main dishes, salads, desserts, etc. Please put your name on the recipes. They can be sent to the following e-mail address: [email protected] Please put �Fury recipes� on your e-mails. If you don�t have a computer, please bring the recipes to a game. There will be a basket �Fury recipes� at the booster club table to put them in. Thanks for your help and cooperation. Hope to hear from many of you real soon. Diane Carsell Board member.
Discussion was held prior to closing the meeting regarding changing from the 50/50 from MOKA to the Muskegon Hts. Optimist. It was not the intention to slight the MOKA group.
Reminder the new season is starting and all memberships end September 30, 2007. Membership forms are included again, in this newsletter and can also be obtained at the table during any game including the pre� season game. If you do not renew your membership by December 31, 2007 you will forfeit any credits you have.
The next membership meeting will be held Thursday, October 18th*** 7:00 pm at El Camino�s, corner of Broadway and Henry Str. The board is exploring different locations to hold our meetings. The current business�- Northside Pub and El Caminos, both have been great, but we would like to visit other businesses that support Fury hockey as well. Meeting rooms need to seat at least 25 and admit members who do not wish to purchase food or drink. If you have suggestions please let us know. We hope to encourage more members to attend our meetings and support the club with new ideas.
Reminder during the November meeting is the only time we can make changes to our By-Laws. A copy of the By-Laws may be obtained at the Booster Club table during any home game.
Sign up sheets for the upcoming committees� Ladies Luncheon, Christmas party, Player of the Month, Appreciation party, Easter Egg Hunt, etc. will be available at the table during home game and also during the October membership mtg. Again this year you can only sign up for 2 committees until all members have had an opportunity to volunteer.
***Next mtg. The above is not a typo� surprised ya didn�t I. You thought I had goofed again. We changed the meeting from Wednesday to Thursday so everyone can attend the special Fury training camp at West Shore Community College� see below. So don�t show up Wednesday- Well you can but we will be up north. We will see everyone Thursday, that�s Thursday night October 18th.
